Chu Bua Lake management and operation road was eroded; about 80m of embankment collapsed and broke.
In addition, 20m of irrigation ditches were broken in the commune; the main road of Trong Phu hamlet collapsed with a volume of about 70m3 of earth and rock; 50m of the surrounding wall of a household in Don hamlet collapsed; 3 households had their roofs blown off.
To ensure safety, 22 households with 104 people had to evacuate. As of 4 p.m. on September 30, 8 households with 28 people had returned home; 14 households with 76 people remained at the evacuation site.
House roofs were blown off.
Damage to agricultural production amounted to 107 hectares (58.5 hectares of rice, 32 hectares of sugarcane, 5 hectares of corn and 11.5 hectares of sweet potatoes), concentrated in the hamlets of Chuong, Don, Chu Bua, Tam Bat, Buoi Cai, Sung Mui, Khieng, Muong Lam, Luy Ai, Son Phu and Trao.
Over 100 hectares of rice and crops were affected.
The People's Committee of the commune has issued a directive document, assigning leaders to be on duty 24/7; organizing inspections of landslide sites, evacuating households from dangerous areas; and placing warning signs at locations at high risk of landslides and flash floods.
The commune is coordinating with the Irrigation Branch of Region V to inspect and develop a plan to overcome the landslide of Chu Bua Lake. At the same time, local forces are being mobilized to initially repair traffic points and drain water; rebuild the fallen rice, corn, and sugarcane areas to soon stabilize production and people's lives.
