According to Nguyen Khanh Hiep, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports , the province has always focused on building a healthy cultural environment and a civilized lifestyle in line with the process of industrialization and modernization. The people's living standards and cultural enjoyment have been improved. Cultural institutions and policies have been promoted and gradually perfected. The network of cultural and sports facilities has been expanded and improved, meeting the needs of people for living, learning, and training. The quality of mass cultural activities, propaganda, and public cultural services has been enhanced. To date, 100% of communes, wards, and special zones have cultural centers, libraries, or community activity points that operate increasingly effectively, becoming "meeting points" that connect the community.
Alongside this, human resources and cultural staff have received attention and development. The organization and management of festivals have become more systematic, and the awareness of practicing a cultured and civilized lifestyle among the people has been raised. Traditional festivals have become a beautiful aspect of the people's cultural life, such as the festival of the Goddess of Sam Mountain, the Nguyen Trung Truc festival, the Bay Nui bull racing festival, etc., along with traditional crafts such as Cham and Khmer brocade weaving; palm sugar making by the Khmer people, etc., which are regularly maintained and organized in an increasingly professional manner, attracting a large number of tourists and contributing to affirming An Giang 's position on the national cultural map.
The movement "All people unite to build a cultured way of life" continues to be widely implemented, spreading to every residential area, family, and individual, gradually forming a civilized living environment and promoting the spirit of national unity. To date, over 92% of families in the province have achieved the cultural standard; over 84% of hamlets and villages have been recognized as culturally advanced, demonstrating the strong consensus and enthusiastic response of the people. Mr. Danh Tung, residing in Go Quao commune, shared: "We are happy that the local government always supports people in developing their economy. At the same time, they pay attention to organizing traditional festivals, cultural and artistic activities, physical education, and sports, contributing to political stability, social order and safety, promoting cultural identity, and strengthening community bonds."
In the context of integration and development, preserving and promoting traditional cultural values is one of the province's key tasks. The dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic younger generation is considered a crucial factor and a pioneering force in preserving and promoting traditional culture. Provincial Youth Union Secretary Phan Duy Bang shared: “Youth Unions at all levels in the province always pay attention to and create an environment for young people to learn, experience, and contribute, becoming a pioneering force in preserving and promoting the identity and traditional cultural values of the nation through positive actions, studying and researching national culture, participating in community activities, and contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality.”
Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep believes that cultural development is not only about preserving heritage but also about building soft power and important spiritual resources to promote tourism and local economic development. In the coming time, the cultural sector will continue to coordinate with all levels, sectors, and localities in the province to strengthen propaganda and dissemination among all officials, Party members, and the people to jointly build and develop culture, meeting the requirements of sustainable development. "The province always pays attention to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of each locality and ethnic group, contributing to preserving and promoting the traditional values and beauty of the ethnic groups in the province," Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep affirmed.
