(HBĐT) - In recent years, the sports movement in Ngoc Lau commune (Lac Son) has been promoted and achieved many successes, contributing to improving the health and spiritual life of the people.
Ngoc Lau Commune People's Committee and Lac Son District Youth Union jointly organized swimming classes for youth in the commune.
Ngoc Lau Commune is located at an altitude of about 650 m above sea level, with a rather unique climate, with 5-6 months of fog covering the year. Therefore, many years ago, when coming to the commune, it was rare to see people practicing and competing in sports.
When people's lives were better cared for by the Party and the State, their lives improved, many people actively participated in practicing volleyball, soccer, badminton... Mr. Bui Van Mung, a cultural and social officer of Ngoc Lau commune, shared: Since the commune received funding to build sports fields, many people have participated in practicing. With the new field, everyone is happy and excited, every 5 p.m. everyone goes to the field to practice. Playing sports makes the spirit excited, and gives health to work and produce better.
According to Chairman of Ngoc Lau Commune People's Committee Bui Van Huy, along with the task of socio-economic development, sports activities are always focused and cared for by the commune. The movement for the whole people to exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho attracts a large number of people to participate. With the diversity of content and forms of training, maintaining the organization of many competitions, the sports movement of the commune takes place regularly, contributing to improving the health and solidarity of cadres and people.
To promote the sports movement, the commune has developed a specific plan suitable to the local characteristics; and promoted the benefits and significance of regular exercise. Every year, the commune organizes volleyball, volleyball, soccer, badminton tournaments for all ages... focusing on holidays and Tet. Through these tournaments, athletes with outstanding achievements are discovered and selected for the commune's sports team to participate in district-level tournaments.
In recent years, with the attention and direction of the Party Committee and the government, the sports movement in Ngoc Lau commune has developed and made remarkable progress. People's demand for sports has increased, contributing to building a cultural and spiritual life in residential areas, creating a joyful and healthy atmosphere, and pushing back social evils. Accordingly, achievements have also increased continuously. In 2022, the whole commune won over 20 medals of all kinds at district-organized tournaments for men's football, women's volleyball, badminton, athletics and ethnic sports. At the 2023 District Badminton Tournament for cadres, workers, civil servants and laborers, the commune's men's pair participating in badminton won third prize.
In the commune, each hamlet has volleyball, volleyball, and soccer teams and courts. The badminton gymnasium was invested by the commune to meet the sports needs of the people. The whole commune has 3,000 people, of which 400 - 500 are the core people who regularly participate in sports, thereby promoting the movement and attracting many people to actively participate.
According to Chairman of Ngoc Lau Commune People's Committee Bui Van Huy, in order for the sports movement to develop more and more widely and sustainably maintain its goals, the commune always encourages people to exercise and improve their spiritual life. In the coming time, the commune will continue to pay attention to investing in facilities to better serve the people's sports needs. At the same time, mobilize social resources to organize sports competitions during holidays and Tet, actively participate in district tournaments... Encourage hamlets, unions, and schools to maintain and establish more sports teams and groups, creating conditions for people to exchange and develop comprehensively both intellectually and physically, contributing to the local socio-economic development.
