The rapid and blitz tie-break matches that took place today have determined the remaining names that have qualified for the 4th round of the 2025 Chess World Cup. In which, Le Quang Liem also determined his opponent to be the host Indian player Venkataraman Karthik. This player defeated Daniel Deac Bogdan (Romania) in the rapid tie-break after being undecided in 2 standard games.

Venkataraman Karthik has a "modest" elo of 2,579 compared to Le Quang Liem's 2,729. He is also not in the top 6 Indian players with elo of 2,700 or higher. However, the 25-year-old player Venkataraman Karthik is very formidable because he is the reigning Indian chess champion. The fact that he defeated strong opponents one after another to reach round 4 shows his impressive form and chess strength. Not to mention, this player also has the advantage of playing at home, where there are many fans welcoming and cheering him on outside the arena.
As for Le Quang Liem, he has the advantage of having 1 day off compared to Venkataraman Karthik thanks to beating American chess player Jeffery Xiong (elo 2,648) after only 2 standard chess games. Surely Le Quang Liem will not "underestimate" his opponent but will concentrate highly to prepare for the encounter with formidable opponent Venkataraman Karthik. In his career, Le Quang Liem has twice won the right to enter the 4th round of the World Chess Cup and strived to make history in this prestigious tournament.

Venkataraman Karthik has a lower elo than Le Quang Liem but is highly regarded as a two-time Indian chess champion.
