In the 17th-20th place match on the evening of August 15, the U21 Vietnamese women's volleyball team had a solid start against strong opponents Chile, but the coordination between the setters and the attackers was not really in sync. The South American team took advantage of the opportunity to score a long series of points, creating a gap and winning 25-17 in set 1.

In the second set, U21 Vietnam continued to make mistakes in the first step, while Chile maintained a coherent play. The psychological pressure made it impossible for coach Nguyen Trong Linh's players to shorten the gap, losing 15-25.

Entering set 3, Vietnam rose strongly, attacked effectively with 16 points and 4 successful blocks, taking advantage of the opponent's errors to win 25-17, shortening the score to 1-2.

However, in set 4, Chile quickly regained control of the game, dominating the attack (18 points compared to 13 of Vietnam) and putting pressure from the serves, making it difficult for Vietnam's first set. Although they still scored 4 points blocking the ball and limited errors, U21 Vietnam could not create a breakthrough, losing 20-25.

Despite losing 1-3, the explosive performance in set 3 showed the potential and commendable fighting spirit of the Vietnamese girls.

Coach Nguyen Trong Linh and his team still have one more match for 19th place, against the U21 Dominican girls - the team that lost to U21 Canada 0-3 (20-25, 23-25, 23-25) also in the match for 17th-20th place. This match will take place at 4pm tomorrow (August 16).
