Currently, in addition to the core task of improving professional work, the Provincial General Hospital has identified the construction of a green - clean - beautiful hospital and good practice of 5S - "Screening, Arrangement, Cleanliness, Care, Readiness" as one of the long-term, important goals that need to be widely and sustainably implemented, in order to limit infection risk factors, create conditions for the best examination and treatment of patients, aiming at the safety of patients, medical staff and the community.
To create a green, clean and beautiful space, especially to ensure fresh air, the Hospital has directed departments, rooms and centers to pay attention to investing in a green tree system, creating eye-catching "miniature landscapes" to help patients relax more. Each staff, doctor and nurse is assigned the task of planting and taking care of trees to contribute to reducing environmental pollution, creating a green environment, air photosynthesis, protecting the health of staff, employees, patients and their families. Therefore, up to now, the environmental landscape has had positive changes, helping patients reduce stress and anxiety.
At the Department of Endocrinology, patients and their families feel comfortable, friendly and less worried and troubled. Here, the corners of the hallway, near the patient's room, and the office are all creatively planted and hung with green trees, small potted plants, and lovely posters with messages about environmental hygiene, creating a sense of closeness, friendliness, and a relaxing, green space for patients, their families, and all staff in the department.
Doctor Vu Khanh Chi, Head of the Endocrinology Department, Provincial General Hospital said: Depending on the characteristics of each department, the common point when implementing the 5S model is that attention must be paid to cleaning, arranging tools, equipment neatly, cleanly, and tidily. Unnecessary things will be removed from the workplace, creating neatness and tidiness. Necessary items are placed in convenient locations for users. Everyone must be aware of keeping and using clean, well-preserved and well-maintained documents and equipment. Thereby, shortening the search time, reducing professional errors, and ensuring patient safety...
According to many patients, when they come to the hospital, seeing a green, clean and beautiful space helps them feel more sympathetic and secure. Ms. Dinh Thi Hue, Khanh Thanh commune (Yen Khanh district) went to the Provincial General Hospital for a medical examination and said: I feel comfortable and secure when I come here for medical examination and treatment. Although there are quite a lot of people coming in and out, going for medical examination and visiting, the examination areas and treatment rooms are all clean, the chairs are clean, the fans are cool... Many inpatient rooms and treatment areas have areas planted with green trees, hanging flower baskets, small, pretty bonsai trees, which are very pleasing to the eye, creating a feeling of relaxation, reducing fatigue for patients and their families when they have to go to the hospital...
Doctor Vu Thuy Giang, Head of the Quality Management Department, Provincial General Hospital said: Responding to the movement to build a green-clean-beautiful hospital and practice 5S well, all departments, rooms and centers in the entire hospital have proactively implemented clean, neat and scientific rearrangement, from documents, publications to medicines, medical equipment... Each department tries to reduce storage space, avoid redundant operations and unify conventions for convenience when working.
In the departments and rooms, there are information desks in the hallways, and reasonable waiting areas for patients and their families. Medical staff wear uniforms when working. Patients and their families are provided with full, clean clothes. Everyone is reminded to walk gently, speak softly, and maintain general hygiene. Instructions, banners, and charts in the departments are placed and hung prominently, creating beautiful and attractive images, contributing to eliminating anxiety and creating a sense of security for patients when coming to the hospital.
In addition, departments, rooms, and corridors are regularly cleaned and disinfected with disinfectant. At the same time, the hospital always ensures adequate sterilization conditions for patients, staff, and medical staff in all areas such as corridors, elevators, public restrooms, etc. This has had a positive impact on the psychology of patients, their families, and medical staff, helping them feel comfortable and secure during treatment, contributing to preventing cross-infection in the hospital.
At the same time, since the implementation of the movement to build a green-clean-beautiful hospital, medical waste management and environmental sanitation have become daily activities of the hospital, a concern of the entire management team, medical staff as well as receiving active participation from patients and their families. Demonstrated by maintaining hygiene in hospital rooms and public toilets. Strictly implementing the classification of medical waste according to regulations, right at the place of origin. Contributing to limiting infection risk factors, aiming at patient safety, safety for medical staff and community safety.
To maintain the implementation of 5S at the hospital, the Quality Management Department has built a checklist and maintained monthly periodic assessments, demonstrating the determination to improve the medical quality of Ninh Binh General Hospital. At the same time, every year, the Provincial General Hospital organizes a green-clean-beautiful competition and good practice of 5S, encouraging the participation and response of all officers, civil servants and workers in the entire hospital. Each department, room and center is a competing team, divided into 4 blocks, including: Department Block, Paraclinical Block, Internal Medicine Block and Surgery Block.
By regularly maintaining a green-clean-beautiful hospital environment and practicing 5S well, it has created competition and excitement in departments and rooms, creating a safe, high-quality, and effective working environment, building a civilized and polite medical environment, bringing the highest satisfaction to patients.
The results of the 2022 patient satisfaction survey show that the inpatient area is 90%, the outpatient area is 91%; the satisfaction rate with medical staff is 83%. The hospital strives to be not only a place for medical examination and treatment but also a place to rest, strengthen the spirit, and help patients quickly recover their health.
