Colonel Dao Viet Hung: After the liberation day, the political and social security situation of Dak Lak province faced many difficulties and challenges. The remnants of reactionary parties and FULRO operated very brazenly. In particular, at that time in Cambodia, the Pol Pot group took power, they denied the international role of the Cambodian revolution, opposed Vietnam and opposed socialism. From August 1975 to January 10, 1976, the Cambodian side organized to send 350 people across the border, deep into the area of the People's Armed Police Station (CANDVT) Truong Tan Buu and Bu Prang Station to grasp the situation of the activities of the armed forces of Dak Lak province.

Faced with that situation, the People's Public Security Command (now the Border Guard Command) launched the "Two Volunteers" Movement throughout the force, mobilizing forces from the Northern provinces to work in the South. On March 28, 1975, the People's Public Security Command assigned the Lang Son Provincial People's Public Security to establish a framework of provincial agencies and stations and units to reinforce the People's Public Security of Dak Lak Province. Implementing the above decision, on May 8, 1975, 166 officers and soldiers of the Lang Son Provincial People's Public Security gathered at the T3 Military Station (Thuong Tin, Ha Tay) to march into Dak Lak, arriving in Buon Ma Thuot town on May 22, 1975. On May 23, 1975, Dak Lak province organized the reception of all the reinforcements from above. At the same time, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee issued a decision to establish the Provincial People's Public Security Party Committee, appointing comrade Duong Dong Coc as Party Committee Secretary. Since then, May 23, 1975 was chosen as the Traditional Day of Dak Lak Provincial People's Public Security. In 2008, the Border Guard Command signed a decision to recognize May 23, 1975 as the Traditional Day of Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard.
