The Vietnamese women's futsal team will begin their journey to win a ticket to the World Cup on May 7, when they compete in the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship in China.

The 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship will take place from May 7 to 18 in Inner Mongolia (China) with the participation of 12 teams, divided into 3 groups.

The Vietnamese women's futsal team in Group B will meet Hong Kong (May 7), the Philippines (May 9) and Iran (May 11).

The top two teams from each group, along with the two best third-placed teams, will advance to the quarter-finals. The top three teams (champions, runners-up and third-placed teams) will qualify for the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup in the Philippines.

The goal of the Vietnamese women's futsal team is to win a ticket to the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup. But first, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang and his team must pass the group stage.

In preparation for the World Cup, the Vietnamese women's futsal team had a one-week training trip in Japan. The team won against Fugador Sumida Ladies 2-0, but then lost to the Japanese women's futsal team 1-4.

Before participating in the final round of the 2025 Asian Women's Futsal Championship, the Vietnamese women's futsal team had a final friendly match with the Chinese women's futsal team, and lost 3-4 in the penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw in the two regular periods.

In theory, winning one of the top two positions in Group B is not beyond the reach of the Vietnamese women's futsal team (ranked 11th in the world ). Because 2/3 of the opponents in the group stage are much weaker.

Accordingly, Hong Kong is ranked 29th in the world. The Philippines is ranked 55th in the world and lost 1-6 to the Vietnamese women's futsal team at the 2024 Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship.

Defending champions Iran have won the Asian Women's Futsal Championship twice in a row and are currently ranked 9th in the world, so they will be the most formidable opponent for the Vietnamese women's futsal team in the race for the top spot in the group.

Speaking before the tournament, coach Nguyen Dinh Hoang shared: "The players are in good spirits, in stable physical condition and ready to enter the tournament with high determination. Our first goal is to pass the group stage, from there calculate the next stage, especially winning a ticket to the 2025 Women's Futsal World Cup."
