Voters also recommended that the Ministry of Transport approve the policy of allowing Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company to upgrade the Hai Phong shipping channel, from the upstream of Nam Hai Dinh Vu Port to the upstream of Dinh Vu Port, and inspect, upgrade, and receive ships with a tonnage of up to 55,000 DWT, reduced load, and length of up to 250m to enter and exit Dinh Vu Port and Tan Vu Port branch - Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company.
Regarding these issues, the Ministry of Transport said it had a working session with Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company. Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport supports the policy of expanding and moving the turning basin downstream of May Chai bridge.
Currently, the Vietnam Maritime Administration is assigned to support and guide businesses to proactively research and select the optimal location of the turning basin to organize the relocation conveniently and appropriately.
This agency is compiling data and completing a research project to improve the ability to exploit public maritime infrastructure and existing port infrastructure nationwide.
The Ministry of Transport will consider and handle the above proposals of the enterprises after the project is completed and the Vietnam Maritime Administration will synthesize and report to the Ministry of Transport to organize implementation to ensure safety and efficiency in the exploitation and operation of ports.
Regarding the upgrading of Hai Phong maritime channel from upstream of Nam Hai Dinh Vu Port to upstream of Dinh Vu Port, the Ministry of Transport supports the proposal of enterprises to upgrade the channel to increase the capacity to receive incoming and outgoing ships.
The Government has issued Decree No. 57/2024 on the management of dredging activities in seaport waters and inland waterway waters. Hai Phong Port Joint Stock Company is responsible for proactively researching and organizing implementation in accordance with prescribed procedures.
During the implementation process, enterprises need to study and calculate the impact of dredging to lower the depth of the channel bottom on changes in flow and sedimentation in the area, assess the demand through goods, ship sizes of Hai Phong Port and of seaport exploitation enterprises on the channel, ensuring effective investment in port exploitation, harmonizing interests among enterprises.
