Speaking at the training session, Mr. Le Hoai Nam - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City - said: "The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2025-2026 school year is the first 10th grade entrance exam according to the 2018 General Education Program.

The way the exams are organized and the invigilation work remains unchanged compared to previous years. However, this year's exam has many innovations in content, leading to anxiety among candidates and parents, thereby creating pressure on the exam council."

"I suggest that exam invigilators need to stay calm, handle unusual situations according to regulations, and not be arbitrarily creative in any situation," Mr. Nam emphasized.

When should seats be changed for 10th grade candidates?

At the training session, Mr. Nguyen Van Qui - Head of the Department of Examination and Education Quality Assessment, Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training - reminded the heads and deputy heads of examination sites about how to handle unusual situations during the 10th grade exam.

Accordingly, in case it is necessary to change seats for many candidates (due to rain, leakage...), the exam supervisor needs to notify the supervisor who will promptly notify the chairman of the exam council.

In urgent cases, the invigilator may stop the test, fold the test paper, change seats, wait for the chairman of the examination board to give his opinion before allowing the test takers to retake the test and add more time to make up for it (if necessary).

"During the test, if a candidate wants to ask for more or change the test paper, the invigilator will only allow more or change the paper after checking the specific situation. All extra paper, damaged writing, or additional paper must not be torn, cut, or trimmed, but must be kept in a separate place. The invigilator will not collect the test paper on the scratch paper clipped to the test paper," Mr. Qui noted.

Regarding the case where the invigilator mistakenly signs the candidate's test paper, Mr. Qui instructed: "The invigilator must not ask the candidate to change the test paper if it is already time to calculate the test time. The invigilator should let the candidate do the test normally and handle the matter by recording any irregularities in the minutes so that the secretariat and the examination board can handle them according to the instructions, without affecting the candidate's rights.

In case of incorrect exam numbering, the invigilator must report to the chairman of the examination council and record it in the exam paper cover (for errors in 1-2 positions) or make an unusual record (if errors in 3 positions or more), and at the same time organize the arrangement and re-numbering of the exam papers correctly.

Do not handle situations on your own.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training reminds exam supervisors not to arbitrarily handle unusual situations or incidents, especially those that affect the rights of candidates. When an unusual situation occurs, it is necessary to immediately report it to the chairman of the exam council (through the exam room supervisor) for instructions on how to handle it.

At the same time, the chairman of the examination board must report all unusual situations or incidents to the department for guidance. He must not arbitrarily handle unusual situations or incidents that affect the rights of candidates.

Regarding the common mistake that candidates often make when entering the exam room, which is bringing a cell phone, Mr. Le Hoai Nam said: "If the exam supervisor has reminded the candidate many times but the candidate still intentionally brings it in, it is the candidate's fault. However, if the exam supervisor does not remind or only reminds once, and the candidate is too stressed and accidentally brings a cell phone into the exam room, it is the responsibility of the exam supervisor. Therefore, the exam supervisor needs to remind the candidate many times not to bring a cell phone into the exam room."

It is known that the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City will take place at 142 testing locations on June 6 and 7, 2025.
