Publishing the 3rd diary of doctor Dang Thuy Tram

In 2005, the two war diaries of female doctor, martyr, and Hero of the People's Armed Forces Dang Thuy Tram became famous throughout the country after a thrilling 35-year journey kept in the US, and were returned to her family by American veterans, and thanks to that, the world learned about Dang Thuy Tram's Diary.

To date, more than half a million copies of the book have been published in Vietnam and translated into 23 languages around the world, deeply moving and inspiring many people about the Vietnamese soul in the resistance war against America, delicate, brave and humane, amidst fierce bombs and bullets, still bright with aspiration and love.

Many events and activities... were organized to honor the image of female doctor, martyr, and People's Armed Forces Hero Dang Thuy Tram. The "flame" Dang Thuy Tram shines in the young generation of Vietnam, the vitality spread through her war diary has always been persistent for the past 20 years.

In 2025, the book "Dang Thuy Tram and the Third Diary" was published, an opportunity to look back at the complete story of a special person - an ordinary soldier in the war, helping us to know more about the portrait of Dang Thuy Tram.

The author of the book is Ms. Dang Kim Tram, the younger sister of female doctor, martyr, and Hero of the Armed Forces Dang Thuy Tram. She has translated many English books, written for newspapers, and is the main person in charge of the posthumous works of doctor Dang Thuy Tram, compiled into books, along with many other related documents.

The book includes a number of articles in the book about the female doctor before leaving Hanoi for the southern battlefield.

An important part of the book is the unpublished manuscript of female doctor Dang Thuy Tram, including the "third diary" and some letters with family and friends.

One thing that once caused much curiosity and controversy was Dang Thuy Tram's failed love affair with M., a talented southern soldier. In this book, it is also re-examined from the most honest and "real" perspective.

The latter part of the book recounts the journey of Dang Thuy Tram's two war diaries returning to where they belonged after 35 years, thrilling and touching; stories after "Dang Thuy Tram's Diary" was published, such as the story of finding the first person from the "other side" to read Dang Thuy Tram's diary and stopping her from "burning it", the trip to the US to receive the two lost diaries, the story of the great mother of the great daughter...
