Fruit and vegetable exports regain growth momentum
According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, in the first 7 months of this year, exports of coffee, pepper, cashew, seafood, wood, etc. are the export items that increased sharply.
Specifically for coffee, in the first 7 months of this year we exported 1.1 million tons (up 7.6% over the same period last year) and earned 6 billion USD (up 65%). This is the first time Vietnam's coffee exports have reached 6 billion USD and exceeded the whole of 2024 (about 5.6 billion USD).
The coffee industry is "flying high" thanks to the average export price in the first 7 months of this year increasing by more than 53% compared to the same period last year, estimated at 5,672 USD/ton. With the current export price, it is forecasted that coffee exports this year will reach over 7 billion USD.
Although pepper export volume decreased by nearly 12% (145,000 tons), export value increased by nearly 30% (991 million USD) thanks to the average export price increasing by 47% compared to the same period last year (6,823 USD/ton).
In the first 7 months of this year, cashew nuts also brought in 2.79 billion USD (up more than 17%) although the export volume was only 409,000 tons (down 3.3%). The average export price of cashew nuts in the first 7 months of 2025 is estimated at 6,800 USD/ton, up 21% over the same period in 2024.
Similar to wood and wood products, seafood also brought in 9.67 billion USD (up 8.3%) and 6.06 billion USD (up nearly 14%) respectively.
Fruit and vegetable exports have been regaining growth momentum in the past two months, with export turnover in June and July reaching 750 million and 810 million USD, respectively. Thanks to that, the export value of this item in the first 7 months of the year reached 3.92 billion USD, an increase of nearly 1% over the same period in 2024.
In the first 6 months of the year, the export value of fruits and vegetables always increased compared to the same period last year.
Among the main agricultural products, rice has not been able to regain growth momentum because the average export price in the first 7 months of this year only reached 514 USD/ton (down 18% compared to the same period last year). Therefore, although the export volume increased by more than 3% (5.5 million tons) compared to last year, the value earned was only 2.81 billion USD (down 16%).
