Deploying troops and assigning tasks to the teams to search for and collect the remains of martyrs who died in Cambodia, phase 25 (dry season 2025-2026)

On the morning of November 6, 2025, at the Martyrs' Cemetery of Hill 82 (Tan Bien commune), the Steering Committee for searching, collecting and identifying the remains of martyrs of Military Region 7 (Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7) held a departure ceremony, assigning tasks to the teams to search for and collect the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia during the war and bring them back to the country, phase XXV (dry season 2025-2026).

Overview of the Ceremony

The ceremony was chaired and directed by Major General Tran Chi Tam - Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Region, Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7. Also attending the ceremony were Major General Doan Quang Hoa - Director of the Policy Department, General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, Chief of Office of the National Steering Committee 515; Colonel Thai Thanh Duc - Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Military Region, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7; Permanent Vice Chairman of the People's Council of Tay Ninh Province Nguyen Dai Thy; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Dong Nai Nguyen Truong Son; Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh Pham Tan Hoa; Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Thanh; representatives of the Government Office ; Members of the National Steering Committee 515 and Central Ministries and branches; Representatives of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7; members of the Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces, along with 185 officers and soldiers of teams K70, K71, K72, K73.

In a solemn atmosphere, delegates offered flowers and incense, respectfully bowed to commemorate the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their blood and bones for the independence and freedom of the nation, who sacrificed their lives in the resistance wars and wars and are now resting at the Martyrs Cemetery of Hill 82.

Delegates observed a minute of silence to commemorate the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the cause of national liberation and noble international duty.

Implementing Decision No. 2172/QD-QK dated October 8, 2025 of the Military Region Commander on the task of searching for and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia during the war and bringing them back to the country, phase XXV (dry season 2025-2026), the Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces has directed the Military Commands of the provinces and the K Teams of Military Region 7 to urgently deploy relevant procedures and do a good job of preparing to carry out the task of phase XXV (dry season 2025-2026) in the Kingdom of Cambodia. In particular, pay attention to and direct the competent authorities to repair and supplement fully the materials, equipment, and means serving the task of searching for and collecting the remains of martyrs of the K Teams in Cambodia according to the staffing and actual needs; The K Teams are also guaranteed technical logistics, health, fully implementing disease prevention measures, preparing necessities, medicine, etc. Up to now, the officers and soldiers of the K Teams are ready and qualified to carry out tasks in Cambodia; the Provincial Steering Committee 515 has also discussed and agreed with the Specialized Committees of the provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia in coordinating the protection, guidance and support of the K Teams of the Military Region.

Through surveying information from many sources, the total number of martyrs' graves expected to be searched and collected in phase XXV (dry season 2025-2026) is 825 graves in 10 provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia; of which: Team K70 (under the Steering Committee 515 of Tay Ninh province) including 40 comrades will survey and search for 95 martyrs' graves in Kampong Cham and Tboung Khmum provinces; Team K71 (under the Tay Ninh Provincial Military Command) including 50 comrades will survey and search for 172 martyrs' graves in Seam Reap, Banteay Meanchey and Otdar Meanchey provinces. Team K72 (under the Dong Nai Provincial Military Command) including 50 comrades will survey and search for 482 martyrs' graves in Kratie and Kampong Thom provinces; Team K73 (under the Tay Ninh Provincial Military Command) consisting of 45 comrades will survey and search for 76 martyrs' graves in Prey Veng, Battambang and Pailin provinces.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Tran Chi Tam - Deputy Political Commissar of the Military Region, Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7 praised the exemplary spirit, solidarity, unity, overcoming difficulties, striving, and excelling in completing the sacred and noble mission of the K Teams over the past 24 years. At the same time, he thanked the attention, direct and regular leadership, guidance, help and facilitation of the Central Committees, Ministries and Branches; of the Party Committees, authorities, departments and branches of Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces; the help and support of the Specialized Committees of the provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Royal Cambodian Army, which have created the best and most favorable conditions for Military Region 7 and the Specialized Teams of the Military Region to successfully complete the task of searching for and collecting martyrs' remains in the past time.

To continue to improve the effectiveness of the search and collection of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war and brought them back to the country, phase XXV, dry season 2025-2026, Major General Tran Chi Tam - Deputy Political Commissar of Military Region 7, Head of Steering Committee 515 of Military Region 7 requested the Military Commands of Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces to actively advise the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, and Steering Committee 515 of the province to closely lead and direct the search and collection of remains of martyrs; strengthen synchronous and unified coordination in organizing the implementation of tasks to mobilize maximum resources with the participation of the whole society and the entire political system. Direct the K Teams to continue to thoroughly grasp the ideology, well implement the tasks, overcome all difficulties, thoroughly organize and implement each information; be proactive, flexible, creative, focus on carefully checking the area, ensuring absolute safety of people, vehicles and equipment. Strive to basically find all locations with information on martyrs' graves by 2030 and continue to do so until there is no more information on martyrs and martyrs' graves. Regularly coordinate closely with local authorities in Cambodia to organize information, propaganda, and extensive mobilization among all classes of Cambodian people about the work of searching and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war in Cambodia in the spirit of maintaining solidarity, friendship, respect, and mutual assistance.

The Party Committees commanding the K Teams continue to do a good job of political education, ideological leadership, raising awareness and responsibility for the staff and soldiers under their command; determine the will and determination to strive to complete well and excellently the assigned tasks.

For the K Teams, it is necessary to strictly comply with the law; strengthen close coordination with relevant forces to ensure that all tasks are absolutely safe. Strengthen the work of updating, exchanging information, and closely coordinating with the Collection Teams of Military Region 5, Military Region 9 and with authorities at all levels, Specialized Committees, and military agencies at the provincial and district levels of Cambodia.

At the Ceremony, Military Region 7 also awarded Certificates of Merit to 13 groups and 38 individuals with outstanding achievements in advising, guiding, directing and carrying out the task of searching for and collecting the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died during the war and bringing them back to the country, phase XXIV, dry season 2024-2025.

After the ceremony, the delegates attending the ceremony, along with a large number of people and social classes in Tay Ninh and Dong Nai provinces, came to see off the officers and soldiers of Team K70, K71, K72 and K73 who were on duty in Cambodia through Xa Mat International Border Gate, Tay Ninh province. Representatives of the Specialized Committees and people of the provinces of the Kingdom of Cambodia also came to welcome the K Teams who were on duty in Cambodia.
