Recently, images of the mascot for the Year of the Dragon 2024 have attracted nationwide attention. Many localities have erected dragons to welcome the new year in a variety of styles, sizes, and colors…

In Vinh City, Nghe An province, the city government had planned to erect a dragon mascot in the art garden on Ho Tung Mau street on the 27th day of the 12th lunar month. However, earlier than expected, on the evening of February 4th, 2024 (the 25th day of the 12th lunar month), the dragon mascot was assembled by the workers, attracting the attention of many people.

According to observations, the dragon mascot in Nghe An is quite large, with a body length of nearly 30 meters, a height of 5.3 meters, a width of 3 meters, and a decorative length of about 5 meters, coiled into many loops. The total weight of the dragon is estimated to be between 2 and 3 tons. The dragon was created through a collaboration of artisans, designers, and craftsmen in Nghe An.

The entire body of the dragon is fitted with decorative lights, glowing in the night, and the dragon's mouth holds a shining pearl. This dragon mascot is inspired by the image of a dragon coiled up with a pearl in its mouth, hidden in the clouds.
This symbolizes steadfastness, confidence, and the waiting for opportunities without losing humility. The layers of fresh flowers covering the dragon's body resemble clouds, enhancing its artistic appeal and creating the image of a dragon soaring into the sky.

Reportedly, to erect this dragon mascot, workers from Vinh City Green Park Joint Stock Company worked continuously from the evening of February 4th to 2 AM on February 5th, including many stages of transportation, assembling, and installing decorative lights…

Upon completion, the dragon mascot at the art flower garden is expected to be a highlight in the Tet (Lunar New Year) decorations in Vinh City; contributing to tourism development and serving locals and tourists celebrating Tet and welcoming the Spring.

Previously, people nationwide discussed the "dragon mascots" made of bonsai trees at the intersection of Nguyen Sy Sach Street and Le Nin Boulevard, running along the North Canal in Vinh City. However, according to city authorities, these "bonsai dragons" have existed for over a decade and were not recently erected to welcome the new year. There are also about four other pairs of bonsai dragons in parks and along other streets in the city.
