10,000 free flu shots for communities protected by vaccines

Announcing the campaign "Year of action for the community protected by vaccines", VNVC Vaccination System signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Tam Anh General Hospital System, giving away 10,000 free doses of flu vaccine to patients being examined and treated at the hospital, along with a preferential price of 199,000 VND/influenza vaccine dose for accompanying relatives.

This is one of the important activities of VNVC in the goal of increasing the opportunity to get flu vaccination for people, especially high-risk groups such as pregnant women, the elderly, people with underlying diseases... thereby contributing to the goal of increasing the flu vaccination rate from 4% to 10% for the whole community from now until the end of 2025.

Flu – A health hazard not to be underestimated

Anyone can get the flu. Although most people who get the flu will recover on their own after about 4-7 days, there are still many cases where people with weakened immune systems or chronic diseases are at risk of serious complications, even death, when infected with the flu.

Flu is not the same as a cold, although the symptoms of these two respiratory problems seem similar and can easily be confused. Dry cough, fever, runny nose, chills, headache, fatigue, etc. are common initial signs of the disease. At this level, flu is not dangerous. However, flu can progress severely in some cases, causing the patient to fall into pneumonia, respiratory failure, encephalitis, meningitis causing convulsions, loss of consciousness, etc., or progress to more serious diseases. Particularly in young children, seasonal flu can cause complications such as myocarditis, otitis media, or worsen existing diseases.

The important role of flu vaccine

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), each year there are 290,000 - 650,000 deaths due to influenza, including adults and children. Faced with the danger of influenza, vaccination is one of the leading safe, effective and economical ways to prevent it.

Influenza vaccination helps stimulate the body to produce active immunity to prevent the disease. If infected with different strains of influenza virus, the symptoms of the disease are also milder, the duration of infection is also shortened and the rate of complications is reduced to a minimum. Influenza vaccination can reduce the mortality rate due to influenza by 70-80%. However, to achieve this result, a booster shot of influenza is needed every year so that the body can "resist" the structural changes of the annual influenza virus strains.

Children from 6 months of age and older, pregnant and postpartum women, the elderly, people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, cardiovascular disease... are the subjects that should be vaccinated against influenza every year.

Get 10,000 free flu vaccines at Tam Anh General Hospital

10,000 free flu vaccines is a meaningful program for the community, part of the campaign "Year of action for the community protected by vaccines", launched by VNVC. According to the strategic cooperation agreement between Tam Anh General Hospital System and VNVC Vaccination System, 10,000 free flu vaccines will be given to people being examined and treated at Tam Anh. In addition, the hospital also implements a price policy with special incentives for relatives accompanying and caring for patients at the hospital system.

Program details:

Free 1 dose of Flu vaccine for customers/patients being examined and treated (outpatient and inpatient) at Tam Anh hospital system.

Flu vaccine promotion at only 199,000 VND/shot, for relatives accompanying customers/patients.

Note:

The program starts from March 7, 2023 until the quantity is exhausted or the application period ends (March 31, 2023).

If the free vaccine runs out before March 31, 2023, medical examination and treatment customers and their relatives will still enjoy the preferential policy at the price of 199,000 VND/influenza vaccine dose until March 31, 2023.

Relatives accompanying the customer will use the customer's medical examination bill to register for the Flu vaccine at a preferential price of 199,000 VND/dose, applicable to a maximum of 2 relatives of 1 customer undergoing medical examination.

The program is applicable at Tam Anh General Hospital Hanoi and Tam Anh General Hospital Ho Chi Minh City.
