A warehouse containing more than 25 tons of rotten food was discovered.

According to authorities, more than 25 tons of frozen squid, beef tripe, chicken feet... in the warehouse were giving off a foul smell and did not ensure food safety.

On the afternoon of May 28, the Department of Domestic Market Management and Development ( Ministry of Industry and Trade ) announced that the market management force of Quang Ninh province had just temporarily detained more than 25 tons of food of unknown origin in a cold storage in Mong Cai city.

Specifically, Market Management Team No. 4 under the Market Management Department of Quang Ninh province coordinated with functional forces to conduct a surprise inspection of a cold storage facility in Village 5, Quang Nghia Commune, Mong Cai City. Here, the functional forces discovered a total of 25,460 kg of frozen food without invoices or documents proving legal origin.

Among them were 25,000kg of frozen squid, 300kg of beef tripe and 160kg of chicken feet. “The entire shipment had a foul smell and showed signs of not ensuring food safety,” the authorities informed.

The owner of the shipment, Mr. D.XS (residing in Hai Hoa ward, Mong Cai city), confessed to purchasing the above goods from many sources floating on the market, without valid documents, for business purposes.

The authorities have drawn up a record to temporarily detain all the violating goods for further investigation and handling according to regulations.
