Twelve teams will compete in an exciting match at the Ho Chi Minh City Student Futsal Tournament 2025.

The Ho Chi Minh City Student Futsal Tournament is organized by the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City University and Professional Sports Association and the Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry. This is the third year the student futsal tournament has been held regionally, aiming to create a nationwide futsal playing field for students and young people, and to further promote the sport.

12 teams, 4 groups

The tournament took place from November 4th to 12th, featuring 12 teams from the following institutions: People's Security University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, RMIT Vietnam University, Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law,FPT University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, Saigon Technology University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Banking, and Swinburne Vietnam Alliance Program.

Twelve teams are divided equally into four groups, competing in a single round-robin format to determine rankings. The top two teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals. 20 matches will take place at the gymnasium of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry (Linh Xuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City).

Mr. Vu Hai Quang, Deputy General Director of VOV and Head of the tournament organizing committee, said: "The professionalism and prestige of the tournament are affirmed through the brand of VOV. When VOV started organizing the student futsal tournament, the goal was not only to create a simple sporting arena, but also to contribute to building a comprehensive development environment for students - a place to train physical fitness alongside teamwork and the will to overcome difficulties. Through each season, student futsal has become a bridge to spread the passion for football among young people, while discovering and nurturing many talents for Vietnamese futsal."

Looking back on the journey so far, from Can Tho, the Central Highlands, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City... the student futsal tournaments have all left a special mark. Each team not only represents their school but also carries within them the pride, the desire to conquer, and the spirit of fair play of youth. The fiery stands, the breathtaking plays, the cheers of the students – all create an atmosphere that anyone who has witnessed it will find hard to forget.

Associate Professor Chau Vinh Huy, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City University and Professional Sports Association, Rector of the Ho Chi Minh City University of Physical Education and Sports, and a member of the tournament's organizing committee, stated: "Futsal, with its fast-paced, technical, and dramatic characteristics, is perfectly suited to the school environment: a suitable space, short playing time, high teamwork, and especially an opportunity for students to showcase their skills, abilities, and creativity in every move. We believe this is not just a football tournament, but a practical sporting event for the student community in Ho Chi Minh City, leading up to the 43rd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day."

Dr. Tran Dinh Ly, Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, and a member of the tournament's organizing committee, said: "Futsal is a popular sport at universities, academies, and colleges nationwide. Typically, each school has at least one club/team that regularly participates. Internal and friendly student football tournaments are organized frequently and in diverse forms and scales. With a tradition of achieving high results in sports competitions in general and futsal in particular, the university is very pleased to be the host institution this year, welcoming students from other schools to compete. With our well-invested sports facilities and existing infrastructure, we will cooperate effectively with VOV to ensure the tournament's success. Over the past period, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry has built a standard physical training space to serve the diverse needs of students, aiming to strengthen connections, develop skills, and especially create a space for training."
