This is an activity to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam Youth Volunteer Force (July 15, 1950 - July 15, 2023), towards the 76th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2023).
Gia Lam District Youth Union Secretary Pham Van Phong said that, promoting the spirit of "mutual love" and for the health of the community, Gia Lam District Youth Union carries out an annual volunteer program, coordinating with units to visit, encourage, check health, give gifts and distribute free medicine to families in difficult circumstances, families with revolutionary contributions, and families with preferential policies.
With the spirit of volunteerism, enthusiasm and high responsibility, doctors and nurses of Viet Duc Hospital have examined the health of 250 former youth volunteers and veterans in the Nam Duong cluster. Through measuring blood pressure, examining eyes, ears, nose, throat, taking X-rays, testing for diabetes..., doctors detect diseases early, and at the same time provide health care advice so that the former youth volunteers can have timely and effective treatment. 100% of the former youth volunteers who come for examination are given free medicine and supplements.
At the program, Viet Duc Friendship Hospital presented 10 gifts to former youth volunteers in difficult circumstances, each worth 1 million VND. Gia Lam District Red Cross also mobilized the philanthropist Thien Tam Duyen's family to present 250 gifts worth 70 million VND in total to former youth volunteers.
