Changing your diet can also make a big difference in lowering bad blood fats (LDL cholesterol) in your body.

Some drinks help reduce bad cholesterol levels in the blood, and can even increase HDL cholesterol (good blood fat). People with high blood fat refer to some drinks that should be included in the diet.

1. Green tea is good for people with high blood fat.

Green tea is considered one of the healthiest beverages. One study found that drinking green tea reduced LDL levels in both healthy people and those at risk of heart problems, as well as significantly reduced total cholesterol levels in participants.

According to Kathy McManus, Director of the Department of Nutrition at Brigham and Women's Hospital (USA), the limited data available on green tea supports a potential link between green tea and beneficial properties related to cardiovascular disease risk factors. The study found that this link may be largely due to the presence of flavonoids. An important reason why green tea has a positive effect on cardiovascular health is because these flavonoids are powerful anti-inflammatory agents. This effect can break down LDL plaque in the arteries.

2. Soy milk can regulate cholesterol

Soy milk is one of the few healthy plant-based milk alternatives. Soy milk is especially beneficial if you want to lower your blood lipid levels. Researchers have found that two specific proteins found in soybeans, glycinin and B-conglycinin, can lower LDL cholesterol levels.

According to Dr. Elvira de Mejia, Professor of Food Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (USA), the study found that when digested, soybeans have the effect of absorbing bad cholesterol. These results indicate that the consumption of selected soybeans can regulate cholesterol and balance LDL and thus promote the prevention of cardiovascular diseases due to atherosclerosis.

Soy milk not only has the ability to reduce artery-clogging cholesterol, but it can also increase HDL levels. These findings were reported in a study published in Complementary Therapies in Medicine, in which participants consumed between 1 and 4 cups of soy milk per day for up to 8 weeks.

Experts note that you should drink pure, unsweetened soy milk and limit flavored soy milk because it may contain sugar, which will negate the benefits.

3. Oat milk is a good choice to help lower cholesterol

Oat milk is low in calories and contains no cholesterol or saturated fat, making it a healthy addition to the diet of anyone trying to lower bad cholesterol. In fact, a 1999 study published in the Annals of Nutrition and Metabolism found that men with high cholesterol who consumed oat milk for five weeks had lower LDL cholesterol and total cholesterol levels at the end of the study.

This benefit is due to the soluble fiber found in oat milk, specifically beta-glucan. This is a type of water-soluble fiber that becomes more viscous when digested slowly by the body. This process is key, because soluble fiber breaks down slowly enough to hold onto cholesterol in the body. When soluble fiber is digested slowly, it binds to cholesterol in the blood before it can enter the circulation. It can then be removed from the body, helping to lower LDL cholesterol.

A 2018 study published in Food & Function even found that consuming oat-based beverages, as opposed to eating oats alone, may be more effective in lowering cholesterol levels over the long term. While not all brands provide this information, some oat milk manufacturers do include the amount of beta-glucan on their nutrition labels.

4. Antioxidants in red wine help improve cholesterol

Red wine, although alcoholic, is still being noted for its possible benefits for heart health. The benefits may stem from the fermentation process. Red grapes contain a powerful antioxidant called resveratrol. This polyphenol has a wide range of health benefits in general, but one of the most important is that it has an anti-inflammatory effect on the arteries and can increase HDL levels in the blood.

The higher the antioxidant content of foods consumed, the more the body is protected from disease and inflammation is suppressed. Therefore, if you occasionally drink a glass of red wine along with a healthy diet, it can help improve blood lipid levels along with a scientific lifestyle, balanced diet, and exercise.

If you suspect you have dyslipidemia, you should see a doctor for an accurate diagnosis. Depending on the severity of the condition, your doctor will advise you on the appropriate treatment method. If you only have mild hyperlipidemia, a reasonable diet and regular exercise can improve your condition without the need for medication. If lifestyle and dietary adjustments are ineffective after 3 months, you should take lipid-lowering medication as prescribed and instructed by a specialist.
