5 cases of candidates violating exam regulations in the 10th grade high school entrance exam

On the afternoon of June 6, the Departmentof Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City reported information on the 10th grade high school entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year.

This year, the 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City took place at 158 exam locations with 4,102 rooms (147 regular exam locations and 11 specialized exam locations). The number of officers and teachers mobilized to participate in the exam was 12,306 people (including police and medical forces).

This year, Ho Chi Minh City has 77,294 quotas for grade 10 through the grade 10 entrance exam at 114 high schools across the city, with 96,334 candidates registering for the exam.

According to the statistical report, in the morning, 95,959/96,334 candidates took the Literature exam (99.61% rate), with 375 candidates absent. In the afternoon, 95,951/96,334 candidates took the Foreign Language exam (99.60% rate), with 383 candidates absent.

During the Literature exam on the morning of June 6, there were 5 cases of candidates violating the exam regulations. Specifically, 2 candidates were 20 minutes late at 8:20 am, so the head of the exam site did not allow the candidates to take the exam according to the regulations; 2 candidates violated the exam regulations (bringing phones into the exam room); the exam was suspended and the phones were confiscated, the security team checked the equipment and confirmed that no exam papers were sent out. At the same time, a record of the exam suspension was made according to the regulations. There was 1 case of a candidate opening documents in the exam room, the documents were confiscated and a warning decision was issued.

According to candidates, this year's literature exam has a high level of openness, suitable for the ability and cognitive level of the age group. The exam is creative, not overlapping with previous years. On the other hand, the exam has differentiation in two aspects: test-taking skills and creative thinking.

The afternoon English exam took place normally, with no candidates violating exam regulations.

For the Foreign Language subject, candidates taking the English exam said that the exam was very easy, with no differentiating questions. Students who are good at this subject can easily get 8-9 points.

On June 7, candidates will take the Math exam (morning) and the specialized/integrated subject exam (afternoon). The time for the Math exam is 120 minutes, and the specialized subject exam is 150 minutes.

In the 2023 10th grade entrance exam, students are only allowed to bring into the exam room the following items: pens, pencils, compasses, erasers, rulers; calculators without text editing functions, and no memory cards. Candidates can only leave the exam room and exam area after 2/3 of the exam time has passed./.
