In the solemn and emotional atmosphere of the meeting, memories of a time of war and war flooded back into the minds of the veterans - the soldiers who directly participated in the battle, contributing to the historic victory of the nation.
Peace is priceless
Mr. Ha Van Nghien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Veterans Association, emotionally shared: “The price for peace is very expensive. Veterans like us have devoted our youth, sacrificed a part of our blood and bones, many comrades have died for the independence and freedom of the nation. 50 years ago, when I was a signal soldier of the 136th Signal Regiment, the Signal Command stationed in Thua Thien Hue province (now Hue city), I was so happy that I cried tears of joy when I heard the news that Saigon was liberated. Our country is now enjoying peace, the economy is growing more and more. Peace is priceless, so we must not be subjective but need to proactively protect the country early, from afar, before it is in danger.”

When talking about victory, pride always goes hand in hand with the pain of comrades who have remained forever on the battlefield. In the sacred moment of the meeting, many veterans fell silent when mentioning the names of their old comrades. Each person is an indelible part of their memories... They fell at a very young age, carrying with them many unfinished dreams, so that today the country can be at peace. That sacrifice - quiet but great - will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who remain and in every page of the nation's history.
Proud to be a soldier
Mr. Ly Van Bang, a veteran from Nghien Loan commune, Pac Nam district, was moved: “These days, when the whole country is looking towards Ho Chi Minh City to wait for the parade to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country, I myself feel moved and proud. Proud that the country is developing day by day, proud to be a soldier who contributed his efforts and youth to create the Great Victory of Spring 1975, successfully ending the resistance war against the US to save the country of our people. This pride will be the motivation for veterans like me to continue to set an example for our children and grandchildren, and join hands to build our homeland.”

Immortal spirit, forever shining tradition
The great victory of Spring 1975 was the brilliant peak of patriotism, the spirit of great national unity and the talented leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. It was the great achievement of the indomitable resilience and sacrifice of generations of fathers and brothers - the outstanding sons of the Fatherland.
Bac Kan, along with the whole country, is proud to have contributed blood and sweat to that historic victory. During the two resistance wars, Bac Kan province had more than 9,000 cadres and soldiers go to the front, 2,121 martyrs heroically sacrificed for the Fatherland, 99 mothers were awarded and posthumously awarded the noble title - Heroic Vietnamese Mother, 03 comrades were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, and many wounded and sick soldiers participated in the fight on all fronts. The Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Bac Kan province will forever remember the great contributions of the heroic martyrs, Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, wounded and sick soldiers, veterans and compatriots who have rendered great service to the country.
Continuing that heroic tradition, Bac Kan today is striving to innovate, integrate, and build its homeland to develop more comprehensively and sustainably. Every Bac Kan citizen today always keeps in mind: Preserving peace and national independence is a sacred responsibility - built from blood and tears, with the faith, ideals and unceasing aspirations of many previous generations./.
