On the morning of September 2, 2025, the parade to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam will take place at Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi. Accompanying this event is a key campaign of Viettel , to ensure the maintenance of the "digital lifeline".

These days, millions of Vietnamese hearts will turn to the capital Hanoi. These are historic moments that everyone wants to record and share. Behind the sharp livestream footage, video calls with relatives and millions of posts on social networks is a silent but equally arduous "campaign" of Viettel telecommunications soldiers.
The real challenge lies in a series of very large-scale events taking place simultaneously throughout Hanoi streets such as the military parade on the morning of September 2 at Ba Dinh Square and central streets; a series of high-altitude fireworks displays and many "huge" cultural and artistic events on weekends such as the national concert, Fatherland in the Heart, V-Concert, ... each gathering from tens to hundreds of thousands of spectators. Viettel's mission is to ensure that people retain those moments in the most complete way.
Viettel uses the X-Optimization (XO) system combined with AI to optimize network quality according to customer behavior. |
It is expected that about 2.9 million people will flock to the parade area, of which about 900,000 will travel from other provinces and cities. Compared to normal days, people's needs will not only be to surf the web or watch movies, but also to livestream, make video calls, post high-quality photos and videos. Each person, with a smartphone in hand, will become a "mobile TV station", creating unprecedented pressure on the network.
To complete this mission, Viettel has outlined a comprehensive operational plan with more than 2,400 technical solutions , 12 times more than the same period of the September 2, 2024 event, and 7 times the workload to ensure the A50 event taking place in Ho Chi Minh City. Of which, Viettel newly broadcast 500 5G BTS stations, and for the first time in Vietnam, 1,200 5G small cells were deployed in crowded places. In addition, 700 temporary 4G stations and 25 mobile broadcasting vehicles were also mobilized to serve the people during the Great Festival.

Viettel 5G waves flood the "national festival"
Thus, with 1,700 large and small 5G stations newly installed to serve the Great Festival, Viettel 5G will cover all parade and march locations as well as events celebrating the National Day. Small 5G stations deployed along the routes help increase Internet capacity and speed at crowded places, sharing the load for the 4G network.

If you imagine the 4G network as a highway, then 5G is the highway. When there are too many vehicles (users) on the road, the highway will be congested. The system is designed to automatically prioritize connections to the 5G "highway" when available. By proactively "sucking" users with the highest data needs to the 5G lane, Viettel has made the 4G "highway" much more open. As a result, everyone, whether using 4G or 5G devices, has a better experience. These devices are not only powerful but also aesthetically pleasing, and can be easily installed without affecting the urban landscape.
Viettel is the only network operator broadcasting both 5G SA and 5G NSA technologies at the same time. Of which, 5G SA is a completely independent network, providing super low latency of about 1ms and superior performance compared to 5G NSA, 10 times faster than 4G.
Using AI to share load and optimize coverage
For the first time, AI has been used by Viettel engineers to predict the future. Based on data on event schedules, flight tickets, hotel rooms, posts, and social media likes, Viettel engineers have used AI models to predict the most crowded locations, “hot” times, and travel behavior. From there, network resources will be reasonably guaranteed.
Technical teams are installing and supplementing the network on important streets where activities to celebrate National Day, September 2nd, will take place. |
The X-Optimization (XO) system combined with AI helps optimize network quality according to customer behavior. The system continuously monitors the network and automatically makes adjustments in almost real time. Every 5 minutes, AI will automatically adjust the coverage area, direct the signal to the right place where users are, reducing interference in neighboring areas. In addition, when the transmission stations show signs of overload, the system will immediately redirect users to the "free" neighboring stations.
With a complex system of thousands of hotspots, manual adjustment by human power is impossible. AI, through the XO platform, is the intelligent resource that ensures the infrastructure operates in harmony, the best service quality, and brings a smooth experience to people participating in the A80 event series.
With that capacity, Viettel is ready to help people spread historical moments when the parade blocks march across the stage, when the brilliant fireworks light up the sky of Hanoi.
