6 Pedagogical schools continue to consider high school transcripts for admission

Hanoi Pedagogical University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and some other Pedagogical schools said they will maintain the method of considering high school transcripts for admission.

This year, Hanoi National University of Education will enroll about 4,400 students, maintaining 5 stable methods including considering high school graduation exam scores, direct admission, considering academic records, based on capacity assessment test scores, and admission combined with aptitude test scores.

For the method of considering transcripts, the school considers the total average score of grades 10, 11, 12 of the subject or subject group, depending on the major, plus priority points.

For teacher training majors, candidates must have good conduct and excellent academic performance in all semesters, except for Technology Pedagogy, which only requires good academic performance in grade 12. For non-pedagogy majors, the standard is good academic performance and conduct.

In addition, the school also considers admission by combining aptitude test scores with academic records, for candidates with good conduct or better, applying to the majors of Music Pedagogy, Fine Arts, Physical Education , Preschool Education and Preschool Education - English Pedagogy.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Education has not yet provided specific information about next year's admission methods. However, the school said it will continue to consider admission based on a combination of high school transcripts and the results of the school-organized competency assessment exam, which is expected to account for about 40% of the total enrollment target.

If kept the same as last year, the admission score by this method will be equal to the main subject's competency assessment test score multiplied by a coefficient of 2, plus the average score of 6 semesters of the remaining two subjects in the admission combination, then converted to a 30-point scale and added with priority points.

This year , Danang University of Education will enroll 2,800 students through the following methods: admission based on graduation exam results, high school transcripts, competency assessment exams organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University and Hanoi University of Education, direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and according to a separate enrollment plan.

Of which, the school plans to recruit about 700 students by reviewing academic records, specific information will be announced later. Last year, the admission score was the average score of three subjects in the group in grades 10, 11 and semester I of grade 12, plus priority points.

Hanoi Pedagogical University 2 (Vinh Phuc) announced admission based on academic records for all majors. For the majors of Preschool Education, Physical Education and Sports Management, the school considers a combination of academic records and aptitude test scores.

Similarly, Hue University of Education and Thai Nguyen University also recruit students based on academic records, in addition to other methods.

By mid-January, about 60 universities announced admission based on transcripts. Although some schools reduced their enrollment quotas and added additional admission requirements for this method, the number of schools considering transcripts was generally similar to previous years.

Many schools claim that the university results of candidates who are admitted based on their transcripts are not inferior to those of their peers who are admitted based on their graduation exam scores. In addition, this is a convenient method, increasing the candidates’ chances of being admitted. Therefore, schools continue to use transcripts for admission.
