According to the City Statistics Office, in August 2024, the city's industrial production index tended to be lower than the previous month but increased compared to the same period in 2023. The significant increase compared to the same period in 2023 demonstrates the determination and efforts to overcome difficulties of the business community and business households in the context of the world economy still having many complex and unpredictable fluctuations.
The index of industrial production (IIP) for the whole industry in August 2024 is estimated at 98.0% compared to the previous month and up 3.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
In the first 8 months of 2024, the IIP index of the entire industry increased by 4.3% compared to the same period in 2023; of which, 3/4 of the first-level industry groups had positive growth, including: production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning increased by 12.8%; processing and manufacturing industry increased by 4.2%; water supply, waste and wastewater management and treatment increased by 3.5%; mining activities continued to decline (down 43.9%) compared to the same period in 2023.
The IIP index in August 2024 is estimated at 98.0% compared to the previous month and an increase of 3.8% compared to the same period in 2023.
In industrial groups, although the growth rate of the manufacturing and processing industry has not reached the expected level, there have been quite positive signs of recovery, specifically in the first 8 months of 2024: repair, maintenance and installation of machinery and equipment (+52.5%); textile (+40.6%); production of machinery and equipment not elsewhere classified (+17.4%); beverage production (+15.9%)...
On the other hand, some manufacturing industries are still facing many difficulties in finding outlets for their products. Some industries and products have seen sharp declines due to long-term partners suspending contracts. In addition, high input material prices are also one of the reasons why businesses' production and business activities are often interrupted.
The consumption index of the entire processing and manufacturing industry in August 2024 is estimated to decrease by 1.5% compared to July 2024 but increase by 8.9% compared to the same period in 2023. In the first 8 months of 2024, the consumption index of the entire processing and manufacturing industry is estimated to increase by 4.3% compared to the same period in 2023.
The inventory index of the processing and manufacturing industry at the end of August 2024 is estimated to increase by 4.5% compared to July 2024 and increase by 11.7% compared to the same period in 2023, which is the lowest inventory increase since the beginning of 2024. In particular, some industries, thanks to regular and stable consumption orders, and at the same time, enterprises rebalance production volume based on actual orders, so the inventory level is lower than the average level compared to the same month...
In addition to the growth of the industrial sector, the import-export situation in Da Nang in the first 8 months of 2024 is showing positive changes. The city continues to make efforts to implement many solutions to support businesses to boost exports, contributing to promoting local economic growth.
It is estimated that in August 2024, the total two-way import and export turnover of goods will reach 280.0 million USD, up 0.5% over the previous month and down 2.2% over the same period in 2023. Of which, exports are estimated at 170.0 million USD, up 1.0% over the previous month and up 0.3% over the same period in 2023; imports will reach 110.0 million USD, down 0.2% over the previous month and down 5.9% over the same period last year.
In the first 8 months of 2024, the total import and export turnover of goods is estimated at 2,148.2 million USD, up 9.3% over the same period in 2023. Of which, goods export is estimated at 1,269.5 million USD, up 3.0%; goods import is estimated at 878.7 million USD, up 20.0%.
The trade balance of goods in the first 8 months of 2024 continued to maintain a trade surplus of nearly 390.9 million USD.
