Referee Tran Dinh Thinh is remembered
Vietnamese football is going through sad days after referee Tran Dinh Thinh passed away.
In memory of the Silver Whistle of Vietnam, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has made an important proposal to the Southeast Asian Football Federation - the organizing body of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship. The AFF General Secretary has officially decided to agree with the humane proposal of the VFF.
Referee Tran Dinh Thinh has passed away.
Specifically, before the matches on the first two days of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship, AFF and VFF will hold a moment of silence to commemorate referee Tran Dinh Thinh.
Specifically, the referees and players of both teams will observe a minute of silence for the Vietnamese Silver Whistle before the match between Thailand and Indonesia at 4:30 p.m. on August 6, and the match between Vietnam and Cambodia at 7:30 p.m. on August 6 (two Group A matches at Lach Tray Stadium); the match between Myanmar and Australia, and the Philippines and Timor Leste on August 7 (two Group B matches at Viet Tri Stadium).
Previously, the Organizing Committee of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Football Championship held a professional meeting before the matches of Group A kicked off at Lach Tray Stadium ( Hai Phong ). The meeting was attended by Ms. Julie Teo - Head of the AFF delegation running the tournament. Group A of the tournament includes 4 teams: Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia.

The matches will officially start from August 6, with the opening match of the Vietnamese women's team against Cambodia at 7:30 p.m. at Lach Tray Stadium.
Coach Mai Duc Chung said: “I would like to thank AFF and VFF for organizing the championship. This is a tournament for teams in the Southeast Asian region to practice and develop themselves before attending the SEA Games. I highly value Group A as well as Group B. Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines have all made progress. I have watched their friendly matches and seen that all opponents have prepared well. Cambodia's friendly matches with Guam or Hong Kong have all shown progress. Playing at home will receive the support of many fans. I also hope that fans, including Hai Phong fans, will come to the stadium to cheer for the Vietnamese team at the tournament.”
