Although current AI systems can recognize some basic emotions such as happiness, sadness, and anger, they still lack the ability to deeply understand, empathize, and make judgments in complex situations. This raises an important question: How can AI better understand and interact with human emotions in different contexts?

In the AI ​​Contest 2024, contestants will be asked to design and propose innovative solutions to improve AI’s ability to accurately read and respond to human emotions in various fields. Contestants will need to understand the current limitations of AI and propose ways to overcome them.

For example, in the field of mental health care, AI can now help doctors make diagnoses based on psychological signs, but understanding the true emotions of patients remains a challenge. Candidates may propose an AI system that combines voice analysis, facial expressions, and conversation context to better understand the patient's psychological state. This system could help doctors make more accurate judgments and provide feedback tailored to the patient's emotional state.

In the field of education, AI is now being used to personalize the learning process for students. However, when a student is struggling and feeling discouraged, AI is often unable to recognize and provide timely support. A potential solution is to develop an AI system that can monitor and analyze changes in a student’s tone and behavior; thereby providing appropriate emotional support measures, helping students overcome psychological obstacles and continue to study effectively.

Journey of discovery and creation

AI Contest 2024 is not only a technology competition but also a journey of self-discovery, understanding more about science and psychology, between machines and humans. Contestants need to apply knowledge of programming, data, as well as a deep understanding of psychology and social context to develop AI solutions that can interact more effectively with human emotions.

The organizers expect that the contestants will not only improve the ability of AI to recognize emotions, but also find ways for AI to respond in a more empathetic, subtle and humane way. This requires creativity and an interdisciplinary combination of technology, psychology and humanities.
