Mr. Nguyen Truong Nam - Deputy Director of the National Center for Health Information (Ministry of Health) emphasized that digital transformation is no longer an option but has become an inevitable trend. “AI does not replace doctors, but is a useful support tool to help doctors make decisions more quickly and accurately, thereby improving the quality of treatment and patient satisfaction. We believe that with close coordination between technology and medical expertise, and the right direction from the Ministry of Health, the medical sector will make solid progress in the journey of digital transformation for public health,” he said.
The Post Office Hospital is currently one of the pioneers in digitalizing medical examination and treatment activities. On July 1, 2024, the hospital became one of the first 100 facilities officially recognized by the Ministry of Health to deploy electronic medical records, completely replacing paper records. This is an important foundation for applying technologies such as AI, big data, and cloud computing to the patient care process.
Post Office Hospital pioneers in applying AI in image diagnosis.
According to Associate Professor, Doctor Tran Hung Manh - Director of the Post Office Hospital, the increasing volume of medical data puts pressure on doctors to diagnose quickly and accurately. The emergence of AI brings a breakthrough solution: analyzing medical images at a superior speed, detecting abnormalities that are difficult to detect with the naked eye, supporting timely clinical decision-making and minimizing errors. "The application of AI not only helps reduce the workload of the medical team but also contributes to improving treatment efficiency, bringing practical benefits to patients," Mr. Manh shared.
The hospital is also cooperating with VNPT-IT to build a smart hospital model, aiming for modern, safe medical services and putting patients at the center.
At the seminar, experts analyzed trends in AI application in diagnostic imaging, shared practical implementation experiences, and discussed opportunities and challenges in integrating technology into the medical examination and treatment process. The goal is to turn AI into a useful tool, accompanying doctors, contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam's healthcare system.
