AI will replace Hanoi police to control traffic lights according to traffic flow

On November 12, at the second conference of the Hanoi Party Executive Committee, term XVIII, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung, Director of Hanoi Police Department, gave a speech on the content of decentralization and delegation of power to the commune level according to the two-level local government model and some other notable contents.

The Director of Hanoi City Police said that from March 1, the local police will start implementing a new organizational model with two levels: Provincial Police and Commune Police, instead of three levels as before. The police sector is a pioneer and the implementation has proven that this model is completely correct.

"The outstanding result is that criminal offenses have decreased and the people have been better served," affirmed the Director of Hanoi City Police.

From the practical implementation of decentralization and delegation of power of the Public Security sector and through research, Director of Hanoi City Police Nguyen Thanh Tung expressed his complete agreement with the need for strong decentralization to the commune-level government, all things in commune management need to be decentralized. However, he proposed that there must be clear guiding criteria from the departments, even "hand-holding and guiding".

“If you hold hands and show us how to do it, we can definitely do it, there will be no difficulty. And in the process of implementation, this commune learns from the experiences of other communes. Our police have also implemented the same. Up to now, our police apparatus has been operating smoothly,” the Director of Hanoi City Police shared.

Besides the issue of decentralization, Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tung also commented on a number of other prominent issues of the city such as air pollution, solid waste pollution, and water pollution. Regarding the handling of forest land violations, the Director of Hanoi City Police Department requested that all departments join in. Regarding the resolution of traffic congestion, the Director of Hanoi City Police informed that the City Police are implementing a project to install an AI camera system. By around December, AI will replace traffic police to control vehicles according to real traffic volume.
