With more than 28.22 million tourist arrivals in the first 10 months of 2025, an increase of nearly 22% over the same period last year, the capital's tourism is showing impressive growth, affirming its position as one of the leading destinations in the region. In particular, a series of new tourism products are being formed, from river tourism, metro tourism to night tourism and community tourism... promising to create a new look for Hanoi's tourism industry in the period of sustainable development and digital transformation.

The above information was announced by Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Tourism Nguyen Tran Quang at the conference to deploy key tasks of the city's press work in November 2025 organized by the Hanoi Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department on the afternoon of November 13.

According to Mr. Nguyen Tran Quang, of the 28.22 million tourists to Hanoi in the first 10 months of the year, there were 6.17 million international visitors (up 23.6%), domestic visitors reached 22.05 million (up 21.4%). Total revenue from tourists reached 108.22 trillion VND, up nearly 20% over the same period, showing the effective recovery and sustainable growth of the capital's tourism industry after the period of impact of the pandemic and global economic fluctuations.

Notably, during the 4-day National Day holiday on September 2, Hanoi welcomed about 2.16 million visitors, three times higher than the same period in 2024. The number of international visitors during this time reached more than 80,000, an increase of 35%, of which the prominent markets were China, Korea, India, the US, Japan, the UK... Total tourism revenue during the holiday reached 4.5 trillion VND, an increase of 80% over the same period last year, clearly demonstrating the attractiveness of the capital in the eyes of tourists.

It is expected that by the end of 2025, Hanoi will welcome more than 33.7 million visitors, an increase of 20.87% compared to 2024, accounting for about 22.2% of the total number of visitors nationwide, exceeding the plan at the beginning of the year by 8.7%. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 134.46 trillion VND, an increase of 21.5%, accounting for 13.7% of the total tourism revenue nationwide. The average room occupancy rate of the accommodation system reached 65.5%, an increase of 3.5% compared to the previous year, reflecting the strong recovery of the market for hotels, restaurants and high-end tourism services.

To maintain growth momentum, the Hanoi Department of Tourism said that in the last two months of 2025, the industry will focus on implementing large-scale stimulus programs, notably "Hanoi people and tourists experience services at 4-5 star hotels" associated with the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese products". In addition, the city will organize the Hanoi Autumn Festival, the Hanoi Craft Village - Craft Street Food and Tourism Festival 2025 to attract domestic tourists, promoting the image of the capital as a "Safe - Friendly - Quality - Attractive" destination.

Along with promotion activities, the tourism industry is also stepping up the implementation of task groups in the Hanoi Capital Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Many new tourism models are being built, typically: River tourism and urban railway tourism (metro); eco-tourism in Ba Vi; agricultural - rural tourism in Phuc Loc and Da Phuc communes; community tourism in Yen Xuan commune contributing to the development of green economy and community connection. Night tourism products associated with the exploitation of cultural - historical spaces, the Old Quarter - West Lake - Red River and areas with potential and advantages create unique and attractive features of the capital Hanoi"; the western tourist route from the city center to Quoc Oai - Tay Phuong combines spiritual, ecological and traditional craft village elements.

In addition, Hanoi is coordinating with the Department of Culture and Sports and localities to accelerate the completion of the planning for the preservation, restoration and rehabilitation of historical relics and scenic spots of the Huong Son complex; coordinating with Tay Ho ward and related units to complete the Project for Conservation, Exploitation and Promotion of the Value of West Lake and its vicinity... to submit to competent authorities for approval, as a basis for calling for investment attraction. These are considered "heritage highlights" that create long-term attraction for tourism in the capital.

In addition to product development, Hanoi focuses on attracting large-scale tourism investment, striving to have 2-3 more projects completed and put into operation by the end of 2025, including the hotel complex at 27-29 Ly Thai To (Hoan Kiem), 58 Tay Ho Hotel, and Tien Bo Plaza complex - a modern shopping center, hotel, and rental apartments. The industry is also promoting the application of information technology, comprehensive digital transformation, applying technology and digitization to enhance the customer experience.

Hanoi continues to expand cooperation within the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, while strengthening regional and international links through roadshow programs introducing Hanoi tourism in China, Northeast Asia, Europe, etc.; organizing Famtrips and Presstrips to welcome international reporters and travel businesses to survey and promote destinations.

One of the sustainable solutions that Hanoi focuses on is developing high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of communication, creativity, interpretation and community tourism management. The city is strengthening the connection between universities, training facilities and tourism businesses, and organizing training courses on vocational skills, soft skills and tourism behavior for the community participating in tourism.
