Amazon is about to open a direct delivery route from Ho Chi Minh City to the US.

Ho Chi Minh City leaders received the Qatar Ambassador and the CEO of Amazon Southeast Asia, affirming that the Autumn Economic Forum in the city was a great success and attracted strong interest.

Within the framework of the Autumn Economic Forum 2025 held in Ho Chi Minh City, on November 26, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc and Qatari Ambassador to Vietnam Khalid Ali Abel discussed cooperation opportunities.

Expectations for enhanced Qatar-Vietnam cooperation

At the reception, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that many investors are interested in the topic of green transformation in the digital age of the forum as well as the city's financial center.

This year, the forum received many initiatives and cooperation and memorandums of understanding signed between Ho Chi Minh City, the World Economic Forum (WEF) and corporations and financial institutions.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee said that after the forum, the city will carry out activities to realize these agreements.

The Qatari Ambassador considered the forum a great success. In the context of the increasingly strong development of relations between Vietnam and Qatar, the forum will be an opportunity for the two sides to further strengthen cooperation.

According to Mr. Khalid Ali Abel, Qatar is interested in and is exploring investment opportunities in areas such as food security, consumer goods, information technology, cars and car parts, liquefied gas...

The Qatari Ambassador said that Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City are still quite new markets for Qatar and Doha hopes that the two sides will soon discuss specific areas of cooperation.

In the context that the King of Qatar may soon visit Vietnam early next year, accompanied by many Qatari businesses, Mr. Khalid Ali Abel hopes that the two sides can sign cooperation documents on this occasion.

In response, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc said that Ho Chi Minh City has completed the merger with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau , expanding its strengths in industry and marine economy. In which, Ho Chi Minh City still maintains its role as a financial and innovation center.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee proposed that Qatar's business delegations and relevant agencies soon contact the city's agencies to learn about specific areas to promote cooperation.

Also on November 26, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung received Mr. Larry Hu, Managing Director of Southeast Asia of Amazon Global Selling.

Speaking at the reception, Mr. Nguyen Van Dung shared his joy at the news that Ho Chi Minh City businesses are developing on Amazon's e-commerce platforms.

Mr. Dung said that Ho Chi Minh City hopes that Amazon can support the city in developing an e-commerce ecosystem, and proposed that Amazon support the implementation of a digital training program to improve the capacity of city businesses in the field of online export.

The Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee also emphasized that the city pays great attention to digital transformation in building smart cities and hopes that Amazon will cooperate to support the digital transformation process in the commercial sector.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung emphasized that the most important task is to train high-quality human resources suitable for this field. He hopes that the city can build human resource training programs in the fields of e-commerce, digital transformation, and smart urban construction based on Amazon's experience.

For his part, Mr. Larry Hu said that AGS's operations in Vietnam have grown continuously in recent times.

Over the past 12 months, about 17 million units of goods were exported from Vietnam, while the number of sellers and the volume of goods exported to the US and Europe also increased.

Sharing the approach used by AGS to promote the growth of export e-commerce, Mr. Hu pointed out four key factors.

The first is the transformation of the mindset of CEOs and entrepreneurs, from the traditional OEM model to the innovative business model.

Second is the human resources sufficient in quantity and capable of operating and innovating in the new model.

Third is the application of AI technology throughout product design, advertising and operational automation.

Fourth is a strong logistics system, helping goods from Vietnam to Amazon's e-commerce platforms conveniently and quickly.

In particular, the AGS Director announced that Amazon has just decided to open a new shipping route from Ho Chi Minh City to the US via direct delivery, helping Vietnamese sellers bring products to the US market more easily and quickly.

Mr. Hu said that this project is about to be implemented and hopes to receive support from the city government.

Besides, he also proposed to work periodically every quarter or half year with the city government to update the progress of cooperation projects.
