On July 30, the British Embassy in Vietnam announced that in an effort to prevent illegal human trafficking routes to the UK, the British Government has just issued the Law on Prevention of Illegal Migration. The new law is expected to play an important role in preventing illegal and dangerous migration routes into the UK.
Accordingly, illegal migrants will not be allowed to stay in the UK but will be sent back to their place of origin or to a safe third country. This law also prevents the abuse of the UK's protection mechanisms for immigrants under the provisions of modern slavery laws and includes provisions for immigrants not to use legal tools to prevent deportation. The law also establishes stricter measures in assessing age, avoiding time-consuming disputes about age and affecting the deportation process of those assessed as adults. Those who come to the UK illegally will not be allowed to return to the UK and will not be able to apply for settlement or citizenship later, except in special cases...
Home Secretary Suella Braverman said the Illegal Migration Act is a key milestone in the Government's plan to end illegal and dangerous migration into the UK. The UK authorities are planning to implement the law from September. The UK Government will continue to support those who need protection to migrate safely and legally. In the coming period, the Home Office will consult with local authorities and relevant organizations to understand the scale, capacity to receive and support legal immigrants. Parliament will decide the number of people supported each year. This number will be reviewed annually.
Illegal migration activities make migrants vulnerable to human trafficking. Human trafficking is recognized by the United Nations as one of the four most dangerous crimes in the world and has been included in the World Crime Prevention Program since 2013. The United Nations has chosen July 30 as the World Day against Trafficking in Persons.
