Việt NamViệt Nam14/01/2024

After the success of raising squid in a semi-natural environment at sea, Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngoc, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bien Dong Jumping Squid Company in Thanh Hai commune (Ninh Hai) continued to launch 2 cages for commercial squid farming using HDPE technology.

On the first day of the new year 2024, we went to the coastal village of My Hiep, Thanh Hai commune to witness two squid cages in a semi-natural environment at sea using HDPE technology by Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngoc. Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngoc said: Ninh Thuan has suitable natural conditions for commercial and reproductive squid farming. In particular, in the sea area C3 of Thanh Hai commune, there are few storms, the vegetation on the seabed is clean for squid to lay eggs, so aquaculture is very effective. Previously, the company had successfully tested the model of reproductive squid farming in this area.

Semi-natural squid cage using HDPE technology of Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngoc

just completed preparing to pull out to sea to raise commercial squid.

Guided us to visit the commercial squid cage of nearly 3,000m2, a circle that has just been launched near the shore with a diameter of more than 61m, a volume of more than 30,000m3 of water, designed with HDPE plastic technology. Around the cage, wooden boards 1.5m wide are installed to create a clear path for easy movement and care of the farmed squid. In addition, the company is currently continuing to complete a square cage of more than 2,300m2. With this cage, a small cage inside is designed with an area of 1,000m2 to both raise whiteleg shrimp inside and raise squid outside. Mr. Ngoc added: These two new cages were designed by the company according to Norwegian standards, however, the completion cost is only 1/3 with a cost of about 2 million VND/m2, the total cost is about 6 billion VND, the investment price is high but the cage can be used for a long time, and can withstand the waves well. Reality has proven that previous pilot cages can withstand level 8 and level 9 waves. The initial investment cost is high, but the advantage of semi-natural squid farming is that it requires less care, the bigger the squid, the less feeding because there is food in the marine environment. In addition, the quality of squid meat is not inferior to that of wild squid, so it is very popular with consumers. In the coming time, Mr. Nguyen Ba Ngoc hopes that the authorities at all levels will create conditions to provide water funds so that the company can confidently cooperate with the people to jointly develop the local marine aquaculture industry.
