Ba Be is ready for a new stage of development

Developing tourism and promoting the potential of Ba Be Lake is one of the key goals of Ba Be in the coming time.

In recent years, Ba Be district has focused on synchronously implementing socio -economic development tasks, building new rural areas and shifting the economic structure towards increasing the proportion of services - tourism, gradually reducing dependence on self-sufficient agricultural production. Up to now, many important targets have been achieved and exceeded the plan: Average food per capita reached 588kg/person/year, state budget revenue by the end of 2024 in the area reached over 56 billion VND, reaching and exceeding the Resolution of the District Party Congress. Tourism recovered and developed strongly after the Covid-19 pandemic, welcoming an average of nearly 200 hundred thousand visitors per year.

In addition, developing key crops such as medicinal plants, fragrant squash, seedless persimmons, and arrowroot to promote economic development for the people.

Agricultural commodity production models associated with value chains such as growing medicinal herbs (seedless persimmons, Gynostemma pentaphyllum, arrowroot, fragrant green squash...), raising fish in cages on the Nang River, developing community homestay tourism in Pac Ngoi, Bo Lu, Coc Toc... have been and are being effective, creating livelihoods for people.

Preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic groups to develop tourism is a matter of special concern to Ba Be district.

To create a breakthrough in the process of construction and development, Ba Be identified infrastructure as the driving force for development. From there, the district prioritizes investment in traffic works, irrigation, power grid, schools, medical stations, especially upgrading routes connecting tourist areas with the district center and national highways. Many important projects have been and are being implemented in the area such as: Bac Kan city - Ba Be lake route connecting to Na Hang (Tuyen Quang); Quang Khe - Khang Ninh route, Ba Be district and traffic infrastructure in the area around Ba Be lake. The total investment for the 3 projects is up to more than 4,300 billion VND, mobilized from the central and local budgets.

Sightseeing, experience and scientific research activities help attract a large number of tourists to Ba Be.

Along with infrastructure development, Ba Be also focuses on training and developing human resources. Up to now, basically all district-level officials have met or exceeded the standards. The district has also opened many training courses in a number of communes to improve tourism development skills, agricultural and forestry production techniques, especially for ethnic minorities, to meet market demand and this is an important driving force for transformation in developing green and sustainable tourism.

With the advantage of Ba Be Lake being recognized by UNESCO as an ASEAN Heritage Park and one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in Vietnam, Ba Be is promoting the development of ecological, cultural and community tourism, associated with the preservation of the cultural identities of the Tay, Dao and Mong ethnic groups in the area. Gradually forming a green tourism ecosystem, focusing on developing typical products such as tours to explore Ba Be Lake - Dau Dang waterfall - Puong cave - Pac Ngoi village, experiencing indigenous culture, traditional festivals... The goal of the district is to build Ba Be into a national key tourism center, an attractive destination in the journey to explore tourism in the Viet Bac region.

Comrade Duong Ngoc Thuyet, Secretary of Ba Be District Party Committee, shared: Although there will no longer be a district-level government organization in the coming time, the district has also oriented the communes towards a new development stage with the spirit: Ba Be continues to set the goal of green economic growth, improving people's lives, sustainable poverty reduction and harmonious development between conservation and development. Ba Be will focus on a number of key tasks such as: Focusing on selective investment attraction, prioritizing tourism, high-tech agriculture, and agricultural and forestry product processing. Promoting administrative reform, improving the quality of service to people and businesses. Developing the economy in conjunction with environmental protection, preserving the cultural identity of ethnic groups. Building Ba Be into a bright spot in building advanced, exemplary new rural areas.

With high political determination, consensus of the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups, Ba Be district is firmly entering a new stage of development, becoming a unique eco-cultural tourism destination, contributing to improving people's lives, affirming its position on the development map of Bac Kan province and the whole country./.
