According to TEAMtalk , before accepting to lead MU, Amorim had planned to bring 3 former students from Sporting CP to Old Trafford. This group included Goncalo Inacio, Marcus Edwards and Pedro Goncalves - the pillars who had achieved many successes with him in Portugal.

Among them, Inacio is a highly rated centre-back, possessing a release clause of 51 million pounds. The 24-year-old player has received interest from Liverpool and Barcelona, but ultimately remained at Sporting.

Marcus Edwards, 26, is also on Amorim's radar. However, he was loaned to Burnley in January 2025 and helped the team gain promotion to the Premier League. After Burnley activated their £8.5m buyout clause, Edwards has fallen out of favour, making just one appearance in the new season.

The other name is Pedro Goncalves, who used to play for Wolves. He is maintaining an impressive form with 6 goals and 4 assists after 9 matches in the Portuguese National Championship. Although he was once linked with MU, this deal did not happen.

However, this past summer, the MU leadership still showed support for Amorim by bringing in Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko and goalkeeper Senne Lammens - new recruits who have helped the team perform well in recent times.

Four goals of MU against Brighton On the night of October 25, Matheus Cunha, Casemiro and Bryan Mbeumo (double) shined to help MU beat Brighton 4-2 in round 9 of the Premier League.
