Bac Ai: Accelerate the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses

Through the review, appraisal and approval process, Bac Ai district has 885 cases supported to build new and repair houses. Of which, 46 houses are for meritorious people; 198 houses are for the national target program on sustainable poverty reduction and 641 houses are for poor and near-poor households. Comrade Phan Ninh Thuan, Chairman of Bac Ai District People's Committee, said: In implementing the program on sustainable poverty reduction, the district has closely followed the plan and directive documents of the central and provincial governments to implement. Information and propaganda work about the program has been focused on, creating a strong spread, response and consensus from society. Thanks to that, many organizations, individuals, businesses, and philanthropists have joined hands to contribute funds, materials, and working days to help people build houses. In addition, many households have received additional financial support from relatives and clans; borrowed money from banks to build and repair more spacious houses. Thereby, each house when put into use has an area of ​​over 32m2, meeting the "3 hard" criteria (hard foundation, hard frame, hard roof).

Although the program was implemented in a spirit of urgency and strictness, some communes in the district still encountered many difficulties in the implementation process such as: The supply of construction materials is still limited; the beneficiaries are mainly poor and near-poor households in ethnic minority and mountainous areas, so it is difficult to match the funding for house construction and repair... Especially the shortage of construction workers due to the large number of houses being deployed. This has slowed down the construction progress and completion of housing items. To overcome the above situation, the communes have proactively grasped the progress of each house to assign and coordinate appropriate construction teams; called for and mobilized more police, military, militia, union members, youth, communities, and clans to join hands to support working days to dismantle houses, dig foundations, transport construction materials... to ensure completion on time as well as increase the value of the house.

Regarding the progress of the program, in the first phase, Bac Ai district has completed 308 houses, the remaining 97 houses are expected to be completed by May 10; the second phase strives to complete 480 houses before May 31. In reality, the locality is facing considerable pressure due to the large number of houses that need to be handed over and the implementation time is quite short. To speed up, the district has strengthened leadership, direction and synchronously deployed groups of solutions. In particular, the locality organized to find more construction units; increased the responsibility of the housing construction supervision team, the construction quality inspection team to grasp and proactively remove difficulties and obstacles in the construction and repair process. The District Military Command, the District Youth Union, and the villages continue to arrange human resources to support communes that are behind schedule, lack of workers, single-parent households, and those in difficulty when requested. Continue to promote the Campaign "90 days and nights responding to the emulation movement of XNT, NDN" to mobilize more social resources to support people...

With fundamental solutions and high determination, the goal of completing the program by May 31 of Bac Ai district is completely feasible. Thereby, bringing safe and stable houses to those with housing difficulties, contributing to improving people's lives.
