Doctor Sang - born in 1994, grew up in Nam Bo village, Lung Thang commune, his childhood was associated with steep rocky slopes, times following his mother to the commune health station, and the worried eyes of the villagers when someone in the village was sick and could not be treated in time. It was during those days that a big dream gradually formed: "must study hard to become a doctor, to help my fellow countrymen relieve illness and suffering". After graduating from high school, in 2016, he passed the entrance exam to Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy, majoring in general medicine. After six years of diligent study, Sung A Sang not only acquired knowledge but also nurtured enthusiasm and aspiration to contribute his youth to his homeland. In March 2023, he passed the civil service exam for the health sector of Lai Chau province and was assigned to the Sin Ho District Medical Center. After a year of working, recognizing the young doctor's professional capacity and progressive spirit, Sin Ho District Medical Center decided to transfer him to work at the General Surgery Department, which regularly receives serious cases, requiring high skills and flexibility in professional handling.

In order to improve his expertise, Sin Ho District Medical Center sent Dr. Sung A Sang to the Central Hospital for training, to study in-depth endoscopic surgery techniques, modern, minimally invasive methods, reducing complications as well as treatment costs, suitable for the conditions of Sin Ho highlands. After the training period, Dr. Sang returned to take on the role of surgeon at the General Surgery Department, directly performing surgeries.

One of the cases that left a strong impression on him was patient Mua A Pao, from Sa De Phin commune, who was admitted to the hospital with severe abdominal pain and diagnosed with acute appendicitis. With a spirit of urgency and determination, Dr. Sung A Sang and his colleagues performed laparoscopic surgery to remove the inflamed intestine, helping the patient recover quickly and be discharged after just a few days.

Not only is he a solid professional, to Dr. Sang, each patient is like a family member, needing to be shared and encouraged to feel secure in treatment. It is this gentle but thoughtful way of working that has helped him leave an impression on the hearts of the highland people, who are often shy when accessing medical services. Many people call him "the doctor of the highlands", a simple name but a great source of pride for a person working in the medical profession in the mountains and forests of the Northwest.

Doctor Sung A Sang and colleagues performed endoscopic surgery on a patient at Sin Ho District Medical Center.

Although working conditions in the highlands are still difficult, lacking equipment, outdated facilities, and difficult travel during the rainy season, Dr. Sang has never been discouraged. He always keeps in mind Uncle Ho's teaching: "A good doctor must also be a kind mother" to guide every action, every professional decision and in his conversations with patients... That spirit is the motivation for him to practice, improve himself, and spread the spirit of dedication to many other young doctors in the unit.
