The Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Committee works with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism

This morning, October 15, the Culture - Social Committee of the People's Council of Quang Tri province worked with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (VH, TT&DL) to listen to reports on the proposals of the Provincial People's Committee related to renaming streets, adjusting starting and ending points of some streets in Quang Tri town; approving investment policies for projects: Thong Nhat Park at the Hien Luong - Ben Hai National Special Monument, Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Monument and memorial sites of the 81 days and nights of fighting to protect Quang Tri Ancient Citadel. Currently, in Quang Tri town, the Vo Thi Sau Urban Area, the Bac Thanh Co Urban Area and some roads in the area have not been named according to regulations. This has caused difficulties for administrative management, urban management and people's transactions.

Naming streets and adjusting starting and ending points of some streets in the town are necessary requirements that must be carried out carefully and in accordance with procedures, ensuring scientific and social aspects and long-term stability, contributing to the construction and development of socio-economics, national defense and security of Quang Tri town.

In the report No. 169/TTr-UBND dated September 25, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee submitted to the People's Council for consideration and decision to name 29 routes; adjust the starting and ending points of 2 routes in Quang Tri town.

In the report No. 155/TTr-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on the proposal to approve the adjustment of the investment policy of the project: Thong Nhat Park at the special national relic site on both banks of Hien Luong - Ben Hai, the Provincial People's Committee proposed to supplement and adjust the items including: flagpole, infrastructure, office building of the relic management board and restroom.

Specifically, the adjusted flagpole does not implement the content of "renovating the map of Vietnam in front of the flagpole"; the adjusted infrastructure does not implement the content of "building a symbol of the aspiration for Peace"; the working area of ​​the relic management board and the toilet, adjust and add the content of "building a prefabricated house for the relic management board on the existing exhibition house premises" instead of the content of "renovating the working house on the exhibition house premises".

Regarding the report No. 156/TTr-UBND of the Provincial People's Committee on the proposal to approve the adjustment of the investment policy of the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Site project and the memorial sites of the 81 days and nights of fighting to protect the Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, the Provincial People's Committee proposed to adjust the scale of the items.

Specifically, for the category of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel National Special Relic Site, the content "upgrading and repairing the lake embankment (Minh Mang Street, Phan Dinh Phung Street and part of Hai Ba Trung Street)" is adjusted to "upgrading and repairing the lake embankment".

The Long Hung Church item adjusted the content of "covered house to preserve relics" to "restore, reinforce, and strengthen against relic degradation". The Bo De School item adjusted the content of "covered house to preserve relics, sightseeing floor, steel frame covering old relic structures" to "restore, reinforce, and strengthen against relic degradation".

Other contents remain the same as the resolutions previously issued by the Provincial People's Council.

Concluding the meeting, Head of the Culture - Social Committee of the Provincial People's Council Ho Thi Thu Hang said that Quang Tri town is a land with a long history, deep culture and revolutionary tradition. Therefore, the naming of streets needs to be carefully calculated, implemented in accordance with regulations, with specific criteria and principles to ensure suitability with the scale of the area and future expansion and development.

Propose that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Quang Tri town receive comments at the working session to review and advise the People's Committee to supplement and complete the submission to the Provincial People's Council in the coming time.

Regarding the proposal to approve the adjustment of investment policies for special national relic projects, the members of the Provincial People's Council's Culture and Social Affairs Committee are assigned to re-examine the current status of the works and projects. At the same time, relevant departments, branches, and localities are requested to research, calculate, and mobilize public investment capital and socialized capital to upgrade the works to national standards. Thereby ensuring the promotion of the value of the projects, contributing to the development of tourism in the province.
