Lao press publishes many articles praising Vietnam-Laos relations before President Luong Cuong's visit

NDO - Before the state visit to the Lao People's Democratic Republic by President Luong Cuong, major Lao newspapers such as Pasaxon (Voice of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party) and Pathet Lao (publication of the Lao News Agency) all had many articles praising the special Vietnam-Laos relationship.

In the editorial “Laos-Vietnam relations, unique and rare in the world ” published on the front page of the April 22 issue, Pasaxon Newspaper affirmed that the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam has been built and consolidated for a long time, and is the only special relationship in the world.

The article stated that the relationship continues to be strengthened and nurtured through many forms of cooperation and exchange in all fields, especially the implementation of the results of the 47th Meeting of the Laos-Vietnam Intergovernmental Cooperation Committee; the continued strengthening and consolidation of political relations, special trust and defense-security cooperation.

Reviewing the recent cooperation results between the two countries, the article emphasized that in 2024, Laos-Vietnam economic and trade cooperation achieved impressive results, surpassing the 2 billion USD mark, an increase of nearly 34% compared to 2023. By 2025, Vietnam and Laos aim to increase trade turnover between the two countries by 10-15% compared to 2024, aiming to bring bilateral trade turnover to 5 billion USD in the shortest time.

The article emphasized that the two sides agreed to urge relevant ministries and sectors to build priority mechanisms and policies, promote bilateral trade, and strengthen connectivity between the two economies; agreed to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially ASEAN and Mekong Sub-region cooperation mechanisms, and support ASEAN's common stance on strategic issues in the region.

Finally, the article concluded, Laos always remembers Vietnam's support in the cause of national defense and development, and pledges to work with Vietnam to overcome the difficulties and challenges ahead, continuing to develop sustainably.

The front page of Pathet Lao newspaper on April 22 also carried an article “Continuing to promote the special solidarity relationship between Laos and Vietnam, Vietnam and Laos”. The article said that at the invitation of General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Luong Cuong paid a state visit to Laos from April 24 to 25, 2025 to strengthen and promote the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Emphasizing that this is the first State visit of Vietnamese President Luong Cuong to Laos, the article affirmed that the visit is of great significance, both to continue demonstrating the consistency of the Party and State of Vietnam in always considering the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Vietnam-Laos relationship as one of the top priorities in implementing its foreign policy, and to affirm Vietnam's strong support for the renovation process in Laos.

The article expressed confidence that President Luong Cuong's visit to Laos in the first days of the Lao New Year will create new momentum, contributing significantly to nurturing and making the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam more effective in the coming time, bringing practical benefits to the people of the two countries.
