(QBĐT) - With the determination to win this year's summer-autumn crop, Minh Hoa district has developed a plan, guided the crop calendar as well as oriented suitable crop varieties for the people.

In recent days, the more than 18-hectare rice field in Hop Loi village, Xuan Hoa commune is always bustling with the sounds of people and machines. In the large fields, machines are competing to plow, people are building banks, fertilizing, making ditches... Many fields have also been planted with seeds.
Mr. Nguyen Chi Thuong, in Hop Loi village, said that after finishing the winter-spring harvest, he and the villagers rented a plow to plow, clean the fields, and dry the entire rice field. The irrigation water source is always guaranteed, so it is very convenient for production. Hop Loi village's fields are near Ba Nuong dam, so they have water earlier, and his family has more than 3 sao of rice that has been sown.
Not far away, Ms. Dinh Thi Lanh and a group of other women in Hop Loi village were sowing rice on a field of nearly 1 sao. According to Ms. Lanh, the previous crop of PC6 rice had a good harvest, so this year her family continued to sow this rice variety. Her family had prepared enough seeds and other materials in advance, and thanks to the abundant water source, they were able to complete the planting earlier than expected.
Mechanization of production contributes to improving crop productivity in Minh Hoa district.
According to Vice Chairman of Xuan Hoa Commune People's Committee Nguyen Van Bay, the whole commune has over 400 hectares of cultivated land, including nearly 70 hectares of rice land. In the last winter-spring crop, the whole commune planted over 66 hectares of rice, the yield only reached 45.5 quintals/ha, not meeting the plan. Therefore, the commune is determined to produce a successful summer-autumn crop to ensure food, since the end of May, the commune has provided water for people to have a water source for the main crop. With a system of canals covering the fields, 100% of the commune's rice land is not abandoned. The rice varieties put into mass production are PC6, QC03. The summer-autumn crop planting work is directed to be finished early to avoid drought at the beginning of the season and flooding at the end of the season.
In Quy Dat town, the sowing work has been completed, the rice fields are green, farmers are focusing on preventing pests and diseases, especially preventing golden apple snails and rats from biting and destroying them. In the field in residential group 4, Ms. Dinh Thi Hoa is taking advantage of the opportunity to get water to the bottom of the field. She said that last winter-spring crop, her family planted more than 3 sao of new varieties supported by the local government, but the yield was low, not enough to compensate for the cost of fertilizer and plowing. This season, she used PC6 varieties, and worked hard in the field to monitor the growth and development of the rice plants, hoping for a season with favorable weather and high yield.
To ensure the summer-autumn crop production schedule and early harvest to avoid flooding, the People's Committee of Minh Hoa district requested the People's Committees of communes and towns to direct farmers to clean the fields and prepare the land for sowing with short-term and ultra-short-term rice varieties with a growing period of 85-95 days, including the main structural varieties: PC6, Ha Phat 3, SV181, HN6, DV108... to ensure safety in production.
In the summer-autumn crop of 2025, Minh Hoa district plans to cultivate nearly 900 hectares of various crops, including 500 hectares of rice, over 15 hectares of peanuts, about 150 hectares of corn, and over 100 hectares of various vegetables and beans.
For corn, the structure of main varieties, drought-resistant, high-yield such as: NK6101, NK6275, NK7328, CP512, waxy corn varieties HN88, ADI668. Use green bean varieties with high yield and drought resistance such as: DX044, DX208. Peanut varieties L14, SVL1, L29.
In addition, Minh Hoa district also directed localities to develop plans for irrigation and drainage to save water resources right from the beginning of the crop and have plans to store water and use water reasonably, ensuring irrigation water requirements for summer-autumn crop production.
Chairman of Minh Hoa District People's Committee Nguyen Bac Viet, based on the district's orientation, localities should proactively arrange the variety structure and build a specific, flexible crop calendar, suitable for the conditions of each region and each type of crop. Each locality should structure 2-3 main rice varieties. In a field, only 1-2 types of rice varieties should be produced to facilitate land preparation, sowing, care, irrigation, pest control and harvesting. For areas at risk of drought and insufficient irrigation water, it is necessary to proactively switch to dry crops with low water demand, arrange to convert crops suitable for land conditions, farming practices and consumption markets; plan concentrated production areas, the same crop groups to easily regulate irrigation and drainage.
With the strong direction from the beginning of the Party Committees and authorities and the proactive response to the negative impacts of the weather, farmers in Minh Hoa district are determined to strive for a successful summer-autumn crop, contributing to completing the productivity and output targets according to the plan.
