Containing the quintessence of culture, reflecting the continuity of intelligence, emotions and national identity through many generations, traditional art is crystallized in the process of living, working and producing of the people, helping to connect with the origin, nurture the soul and develop creative thinking. Through many generations, up to now, traditional art forms in the province have been preserved and increasingly affirmed their role as a bond connecting the community, improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
In traditional art forms such as Ca Tru, Trong Quan, Hat Cheo, Hat Van..., each art form contains its own unique values, carrying the spirit and soul of the nation.
According to the results of the intangible cultural heritage inventory of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, currently, in the province, there are 48 people practicing Ca Tru singing; the number of people capable of teaching is 11 people and dozens of people are studying.
The bright spots in the work of preserving and promoting the art of Ca Tru in the province are the Ca Tru Giao Phong Club (Van Giang) and the Ca Tru Dao Dang Club ( Hung Yen city). These are two clubs that are active in practicing and teaching the art of Ca Tru singing and have veteran artists as the core, who can carry out the work of teaching and fostering the skills of playing and singing Ca Tru for the members of the club and individuals who love Ca Tru.
Since 2012, the two clubs have coordinated to open dozens of classes teaching skills such as: Guitar, singing, clappers, drums... attracting many participants. People's Artist Do Thi Thanh Nhan, Head of Dao Dang Ca Tru Club said: Stemming from my love for Ca Tru, since 2012, I have participated in teaching hundreds of students to sing Ca Tru. My wish is that more and more young people will love and know about Ca Tru singing so that this unique folk art form will forever be sung and resonate far and wide along the national cultural heritage.
Besides Ca Tru, Trong Quan singing is a traditional art “specialty” of Hung Yen province in art stage competitions from the masses to the professionals. The national intangible cultural heritage of Trong Quan singing is preserved, maintained and is developing in many communes in the province such as: Pham Hong Thai, An Vi (Khoai Chau); Tan Tien, Nghia Tru, Vinh Khuc (Van Giang); Dong Than (Yen My); Bai Say, Hoang Hoa Tham (An Thi) ...
In order to preserve the old lyrics, in 1993, the Da Trach Drum Club (Khoai Chau) was established with 8 initial members. Up to now, after more than 30 years of operation, the Club has 30 members, regularly organizing activities and participating in many performances, cultural and artistic programs in and outside the province, bringing home prestigious medals for the Drum tune. The artisans in the Club also enthusiastically pass on to the younger generation how to sing the Drum through extracurricular classes at schools and training courses organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism .
In the process of preserving and promoting traditional art, artisans and artists play an important role as the ones holding the link between cultural heritage and the present.
Up to now, the whole province has 1 People's Artist, 3 Meritorious Artists, 1 People's Artisan, 34 Meritorious Artisans who are directly involved in creating, preserving, transmitting and promoting unique intangible cultural values in the localities.
In order for artisans and artists to develop their abilities and passion for teaching traditional arts, in recent years, the province has had many policies to support and encourage them to participate in activities to preserve and promote the value of cultural heritage. In particular, the establishment of dossiers to consider and propose the conferment of the titles of “People’s Artisan”, “Meritorious Artisan”, “People’s Artist”, “Meritorious Artist”… has helped to honor and recognize artisans and artists who have made many contributions to the preservation and promotion of traditional arts of the nation.
Mr. Dao Manh Huan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: Traditional art forms in Hung Yen are the crystallization of indigenous cultural values, which are increasingly spreading in social life, contributing to consolidating and uniting the community, improving the spiritual and cultural life of the people. Therefore, in recent times, authorities at all levels, especially the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, have actively and proactively advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue many projects and action programs so that traditional cultural art forms can spread in the community such as: Plan to protect the intangible cultural heritage of Ca Tru singing and Trong Quan singing in the period of 2014 - 2020; prepare documents to propose the conferment of the titles "People's Artisan", "Meritorious Artisan", "People's Artist", "Meritorious Artist" and submit documents to competent authorities for recognition of intangible cultural heritages; plan to inventory intangible cultural heritage in the province; direct the province's art units, cultural and art clubs in localities to organize collection, research, and staging of many art performances and programs to participate in performance activities, exchanges, competitions, performances, and theater festivals. Thereby, the province creates a "playground" and "performance ground" for heritage holders, artisans, artists, and clubs to have the opportunity to practice and perform traditional art forms, bring traditional art into tourism service activities to serve tourists, contributing to raising awareness of the work of preserving and promoting the values of the nation's fine traditional cultural heritage in general and Hung Yen in particular, especially cultural heritages at risk of fading away.
