Closing and awarding ceremony of the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival

Attending the closing ceremony were Associate Professor Dr. Ta Quang Dong - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ms. Dinh Thi Mai - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department; Ms. Tran Ly Ly - Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism). On the side of Binh Duong province, there were Mr. Nguyen Van Loc - Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh - Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department along with leaders of departments, branches and artists and actors of 24 units across the country.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong, Ms. Dinh Thi Mai - Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department and the Organizing Committee presented flowers and certificates of merit to units that have contributed to the overall success of the National Music and Dance Festival 2024.

Taking place from September 29 to October 13 in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province, the 2024 National Music and Dance Festival brings together nearly 1,500 artists from 24 professional art units nationwide, bringing to the audience and the public more than 200 unique, attractive and novel music, dance, musical and ballet performances. The performances not only demonstrate the quintessence of music and performing arts in Vietnam as well as in the world, but also contain many precious historical and cultural values ​​of the Vietnamese people.

The festival is also an opportunity for artists to present elaborately staged performances, combining traditional and modern art, contributing to the preservation and development of Vietnam's artistic culture.

People's Artist Nguyen Quang Vinh - Chairman of the Art Council assessed that this Festival has featured many programs and performances that have been invested in and elaborately constructed, with intelligence from the script to the tight layout with all genres. Many performances have known how to combine interaction from decorative arts, props, images, technology... exploiting and combining the development between traditional and modern art, between forms of cultural and religious activities with the performance style of the modern stage, thereby creating conditions for artists to have the opportunity to sublimate and shine in each role.

Chairman of the Art Council, People's Artist Nguyen Quang Vinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the creativity and achievements of the units, especially the efforts of the units in boldly choosing and building programs in the genres of Thanh Xuong Kinh, Nhac Kiem, Nhac Vu Kiem... to perform. Because these are genres that need synchronous investment from all creative stages to the human resource capacity of the unit.

People's Artist Nguyen Quang Vinh - Chairman of the Art Council shared and summarized the evaluation of the Festival.

However, People's Artist Nguyen Quang Vinh also said that, besides the typical and unique performances, there are many programs that still retain the original version, even the form of traditional melodies that have existed for a long time. Some performances, although trying to create products with changes and freshness... however, it is still difficult to avoid duplication when using techniques in the art of arrangement, decoration or exploiting music technology platforms.

The festival is a professional art playground, which will bring motivation, joy and creativity to artists and actors.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong emphasized that the "National Song, Dance and Music Festival" is a professional activity with the spirit of inheriting and promoting as well as honoring and promoting the unique values ​​of Vietnamese performing arts and the quintessence of world performing arts, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

At this Festival, artists and actors working in the fields of singing, dancing and music have demonstrated their talents as well as their desire to create and contribute, while also exchanging, gaining experience and improving their professional qualifications. Through the Festival, state management agencies from the central to local levels have a basis to correctly assess the current state of performing arts activities, and to evaluate and recognize the vitality of singing, dancing and music among the people.

From the evaluations of the Arts Council, Deputy Minister Ta Quang Dong also acknowledged that, in addition to the elaborately invested programs, this year's Festival still has a number of programs, performances, and competitions that have not received proper investment and attention. Thereby, the Deputy Minister requested that the responsible agencies and functional units as well as art units continue to pay attention and invest carefully in both human and material resources for the competitions at music and dance festivals in the coming time; have special preferential policies to attract, nurture, and train young, talented artists and actors to be the next generation.

At the end of the festival, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to outstanding art units. Accordingly, the Gold Medal was awarded to three (03) units: People's Public Security Music and Dance Theater with the work "Order from the Heart"; Ha Giang Provincial Art Troupe with the work "Ha Giang - The Calling of the Rocks"; Binh Duong Provincial Cultural Center with "The Call of the Source".

These are works that are highly appreciated for both content and artistic quality, demonstrating the creativity and dedication of the artists.

The Organizing Committee awarded Gold Medals to 03 outstanding art units at the Festival.

Six (06) Silver Medals were awarded by the Organizing Committee to the following units: Trung Vuong Theater in Da Nang with the work "The River Tells a Story"; Sao Bien Folk Music and Dance Theater in Phu Yen province with "The Wind of the East"; Ninh Thuan Province's Ethnic Music and Dance Troupe with "Bright Aspiration"; Quang Tri Province's Traditional Art Troupe with "Going Up with the Sun and Wind"; Hai Dang Music and Dance Troupe in Khanh Hoa province with "Aspiration of the Agarwood Land"; and Soc Trang Province's Khmer Art Troupe with the work "Soc Trang Echoes of the Festival".

06 units were awarded Silver Medals by the Organizing Committee at the Festival.

In addition, the Organizing Committee also awarded 05 excellent awards including: Outstanding Art Direction, Outstanding Director, Outstanding Choreographer, Outstanding Musician and Outstanding Stage Designer to creative components at the festival.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong and delegates presented outstanding creativity awards to 5 outstanding creators.

"National Music and Dance Festival - 2024 - Phase 2" is assigned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) to the Department of Performing Arts to preside over, in coordination with the Vietnam Musicians' Association, the Vietnam Dance Artists' Association, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province and relevant agencies and units to organize.

This is not only an opportunity for artists to gain experience, but also an opportunity for audiences across the country to enjoy unique and quintessential art performances. Thereby, contributing to the strong development of the country's music and dance genre, while creating a cultural and artistic bridge between regions.
