Many fans believe that replacing a pickleball racket for a top player like Ben Johns is too little compared to other professional athletes.
PPA Tour tournaments are highly competitive, so on average each top player will replace equipment after each tournament, to ensure the best performance a racquet can provide.
“I’ve seen a lot of people, they change rackets a lot through the tournaments. But for me, the rackets that feel consistent will stay. I only change them when I feel the need, on average about every two tournaments,” Ben Johns told The Kitchen Podcast.
In 2024, Ben Johns participated in 20 tournaments under the UPA system and won 32 Gold Medals, 4 Silver Medals and one Bronze Medal.
With solid defensive skills, a strong playing style and relentless effort, the American player has asserted his position in pickleball.
Ben Johns is currently ranked 4th in men's singles, leading the men's doubles and mixed competitions on the PPA Tour. The American signed an official partnership agreement with Joola in January 2022 that will allow him to wear all of the brand's products in pickleball-related events.
Usually when appearing in major tournaments, Ben Johns often uses rackets such as JOOLA Perseus Mod TA-15, JOOLA Ben Johns Perseus CFS 16mm and JOOLA PERSEUS 3.
