The patient was treated at the Department of Traditional Medicine - Rehabilitation, Lai Chau Provincial General Hospital.
Sharing with the reporter of Health and Life Newspaper, Dr. Ha Kim Dong - Head of Traditional Medicine - Rehabilitation Department, Lai Chau Provincial General Hospital said that not only has historical value, Traditional Medicine also has a particularly important role in caring for, protecting and improving people's health. Traditional medicine treatments such as acupuncture, massage, acupressure, using traditional medicine, or practicing health exercises... bring clear results, especially for chronic diseases, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, digestion, and rehabilitation. The strength of Traditional Medicine is to aim for harmony, regulation of yin and yang, enhancing the body's natural resistance, helping patients recover sustainably with few side effects.
In addition, the trend of combining traditional medicine and modern medicine is increasingly promoted. The application of advanced diagnostic tools and techniques in research and treatment with traditional medicine has opened up a new direction, both inheriting traditional experience and ensuring scientific and effective. Not only Lai Chau General Hospital, but many general hospitals have established departments of traditional medicine, traditional medicine has also been standardized, prepared in a modern form, more convenient for people.
Dr. Ha Kim Dong believes that traditional medicine also contributes positively to economic development and the conservation of medicinal resources in the country. Vietnam has more than 5,000 medicinal plant species, which are valuable raw materials for the development of the medicinal industry and traditional medicine. The exploitation, cultivation and processing of medicinal herbs not only helps to preserve valuable genetic resources but also creates jobs and increases income for people, especially in mountainous, remote and isolated areas.
Not only limited to the field of treatment, Traditional Medicine also contributes to promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese culture through health tourism. Traditional therapy services such as herbal baths, steam baths, acupuncture, health care, meditation... are favored by many domestic and foreign tourists. This shows that Traditional Medicine is not only medicine, but also a cultural beauty, symbolizing the quintessence of knowledge and humanity of the Vietnamese people.
"Traditional medicine has been holding an important position in the national health system. It is both a spiritual heritage and an effective tool to protect public health. In the context of integration and development, promoting traditional medicine in harmony with modern medicine is the right direction, contributing to building an advanced, comprehensive Vietnamese medicine with a strong national identity," said Dr. Ha Kim Dong.
