Columbia Asia Gia Dinh International Hospital - the first private facility in Ho Chi Minh City with 100% foreign direct investment, ceased operations on January 31 and transferred its assets to Vietnam.
In a recent announcement, the hospital representative said it was "regretful" that it had to stop operating. The reason is that the operating period of Columbia Asia Gia Dinh International Hospital and Columbia Asia Saigon International General Clinic, according to the investment certificate of Columbia Asia Vietnam Company Limited, is about to expire. According to this license, the company is legally obligated to transfer all fixed assets to Vietnam without compensation when the operating period expires.
"That is also the reason why the company's operating license was not renewed," the announcement said. The unit also asked customers with related issues to contact via email for guidance, support and resolution, from February 1.
The company has also sent a dispatch to the Ministry of Health and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to report and request the return of its medical examination and treatment license. It is expected that Ho Chi Minh City will have a plan to use this premises and assets for medical examination and treatment activities.
This is the first 100% foreign-invested private hospital licensed to operate in Vietnam, now in its 25th year. It is also the first 100% foreign-invested international hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to announce its suspension of operations.
