Danang Oncology Hospital offers free colorectal cancer screening

DNO - With the goal of early detection of colorectal cancer - one of the most common malignant diseases with a high mortality rate, Da Nang Oncology Hospital will provide free examination and screening for 500 residents of Hoa Khanh ward.

People will have a general examination and rectal examination.

This activity is part of the plan to implement the Health - Population Target Program for the period 2021 - 2025 and Plan No. 2118/KH-SYT dated April 4, 2025 of the City Department of Health on implementing tasks under projects, plans, and programs in the health sector in Da Nang city in 2025.

This screening focuses on people aged 50 and over, especially those with symptoms of prolonged digestive disorders, persistent dysentery syndrome, diarrhea many times a day, long-term constipation or alternating diarrhea.

People with risk factors such as smoking, drinking alcohol regularly, being overweight or obese, being sedentary or having relatives with colorectal cancer are also encouraged to participate.

People will receive a general check-up, rectal examination, fecal occult blood test and endoscopy if they are in the high-risk group. After screening, the hospital will advise on lifestyle and will also provide treatment for cases where abnormalities are detected.

To participate in the program, people can register via the Fanpage "Da Nang Oncology Hospital". Registration time is from September 18 until enough people are selected, the hospital will contact to confirm information.

Early detection and diagnosis play an important role in treatment and prognosis. Regular screening helps identify risks even before symptoms are apparent, increasing the likelihood of successful treatment while reducing costs and treatment time.

According to GLOBOCAN statistics, in 2022, in Vietnam, colorectal cancer ranked 4th among common cancers with more than 16,800 cases, accounting for 9.3% of total cancer cases.
