According to the People's Committee of Phong Du Ha commune, on the evening of September 29, prolonged heavy rain caused floodwaters to rise, threatening many households and constructions in the area. In the face of the emergency, Mr. Trieu Ton Yet - Secretary of the Party Cell of Ngan Vang village promptly stretched warning ropes at Coc Nhay bridge, preventing danger for the people.
At around 8:20 p.m. the same day, discovering that 3 workers of Xuan Tam Hydropower Plant were still stuck in the operating area, despite the strong current, Mr. Yet swam across the fast-flowing stream to help bring them safely to shore.
In the early morning of September 30, when the water receded, Mr. Yet and the working group of Phong Du Ha commune returned to inspect the Xuan Tam hydropower plant and discovered that the entire operating area had been swept away by the flood. If it had not been for the brave and decisive actions of Secretary Yet, the three workers might not have escaped the disaster.
The image of the brave Party cell secretary rescuing people in the flood left a deep impression, becoming a shining example of the sense of responsibility, courage and humanity of a Party member before the people.
