Pham Khanh Quynh was valedictorian of the Fashion Design major (Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry) with her unique evening gown collection "The Breath of Lichen" inspired by lichen.
At the Graduation Thesis Defense Ceremony of the Fashion Design major for the 2020-2024 academic year recently held at the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), student Pham Khanh Quynh excellently achieved the title of valedictorian with the collection The Breath of Lichen , surpassing 63 students in the same class.
The Breath of Lichen is a unique collection inspired by lichens - a natural symbiosis between fungi and photosynthetic organisms. These organisms are capable of surviving in the harshest environments on Earth, from the Arctic tundra to the arid deserts and steep cliffs.
Through this collection, Pham Khanh Quynh not only wants to honor the unique beauty of lichens through their natural shapes and colors, but also convey a profound humanistic message about the importance of cooperation and symbiosis in society. Just as fungi and photosynthetic organisms support each other to coexist and develop, humans also need to know how to cooperate, respect and create sustainable values together.
The collection impresses with its unique shapes, multi-layered structures and rich material surfaces. The evening gown designs harmoniously combine many materials such as knitted fabrics, metallic yarns, mesh fabrics and brocade.
The young designer uses a variety of techniques such as 3D form building, 3D draping, thread embroidery, beaded embroidery, beading, fringe, laser cutting, color painting, high temperature fabric treatment and fabric crushing.
The Breath of Lichen is not only a fashion collection but also a reminder of the connection between humans and nature, affirming that cooperation is the foundation for development.
