On May 13, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Dinh informed about a number of key activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the completion of the transfer of troops to the North by cadres, soldiers, people and students from the South in Quy Nhon (May 16, 1955 - May 16, 2025).

The regrouping of armed and political forces from the South to the North was one of the main contents of the implementation of the Geneva Agreement. In the Central region, Binh Dinh province was chosen as the 300-day area to regroup armed and political forces in the Inter-zone V area to the North, and Quy Nhon port was the location chosen to send forces in the Inter-zone V to the North.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Vy was assigned by the Inter-Zone Party Committee and the Inter-Zone V Command to be in charge of commanding the 300-day assembly area. The number of people leaving was very large, including the entire armed forces, most of the cadres, youth volunteer teams, some cadres' families, some cadres' children and students sent by their families to study in the North with the condition of paying their own expenses, and some families of compatriots from the North who requested to return home.

Implementing the policy of the Party Central Committee, Uncle Ho and the tasks assigned by Inter-zone V, the Party Committee and the People of Binh Dinh organized to welcome and help cadres, soldiers, compatriots and students from the South from the provinces in the region; the subjects were gathered to commune and village cadres. All of the above people gathered in Binh Dinh, especially in Quy Nhon, to wait to board ships to the North.

Binh Dinh Province is responsible for arranging, helping with food and accommodation, treating illnesses, and ensuring safety during the trip. Binh Dinh Provincial Party Committee assigned a number of officials to be in charge of reviewing and arranging the number of people going, the trips according to work requirements, and the partial handover of management rights to the enemy. Of the 20,000 people from Inter-Zone V who gathered in the North at Quy Nhon port, there were 10,700 people from Binh Dinh.

On May 16, 1955, all of our forces boarded the last ship leaving Quy Nhon port, completing the 300-day troop transfer and assembly in Binh Dinh.

The historical event of 300 days of completing the troop transfer to the North in Quy Nhon will forever be a source of pride and a great source of strength to encourage our entire Party, people and army to strive to successfully fulfill the task of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam, realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country.

Binh Dinh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the completion of the troop transfer to the North, Binh Dinh province will hold a flower offering ceremony at Quy Nhon Port Relic - the site of 300 days of troop transfer to the North, on Xuan Dieu Street, Quy Nhon City.

Organizing the 70th anniversary of the completion of the transfer of troops to the North of cadres, soldiers, compatriots and students of the South (May 16, 1955 - May 16, 2025) and a special art program with the theme "Going out to keep the unification oath" at 8:00 p.m. on May 16, at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Quy Nhon city).

The art program brings together more than 250 artists, singers, actors, including famous artists such as: People's Artist Thu Hien, singer Trong Tan, Lan Anh, and Binh Dinh Traditional Art Theater. The program includes 11 art performances and documentaries, leading the audience through the historical journey from the Dien Bien Phu victory, the signing ceremony of the Geneva Agreement, to the sacred moment of separation when Regiment 803 - the last unit - left Quy Nhon port to go North.

The event is an opportunity to pay tribute to previous generations who sacrificed and contributed to the cause of national liberation and unification. At the same time, it is also a message to today's and future generations about the responsibility to preserve and promote the achievements of the revolution, continue the story of peace, build an increasingly prosperous homeland; spread the spirit of solidarity, faith and determination to rise up in the new period - a period of strong development and integration of Binh Dinh province in particular and the whole country in general.
