Binh Duong achieves outstanding results in new rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction

(BDO) On the morning of May 28, the Provincial People's Committee held a conference to review the National Target Program on New Rural Development (NRD) and sustainable poverty reduction in Binh Duong province for the period 2021-2025. Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Standing Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Bui Minh Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of leaders of departments and branches inside and outside the province; leaders of districts, cities, communes, wards and cooperatives in the province.

Thanks to the drastic participation of the entire political system, the consensus and active participation of the majority of people and businesses in the province, up to now, the National Target Program on New Rural Construction and Sustainable Poverty Reduction in the province has achieved many positive results.

Up to now, 100% of communes in the province have met advanced NTM standards; 12/38 communes have met model NTM standards; Dau Tieng district has met NTM standards, Ben Cat city and Tan Uyen city have completed the task of building NTM.

Total investment capital for new rural construction in the 2021-2025 period is over VND12,000 billion. Of which, budget capital accounts for 72%, mobilized capital sources, credit capital, enterprise capital and community contributions account for 28%; budget capital for poverty reduction and social security policies is over VND270 billion.

The OCOP program has developed strongly. In 2024 alone, the number of recognized products doubled compared to the first years of the program. To date, the province has 274 OCOP products; of which 4 products have achieved 4-star OCOP and 270 products have achieved 3-star OCOP. The poverty reduction program has been effective with a poverty line 1.3 times higher than the Central poverty line and the current poverty rate has decreased to 1.06%.

Mr. Bui Minh Thanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, gave a speech at the conference.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Bui Minh Thanh acknowledged and commended the achievements and efforts of all levels, sectors, business community and people in implementing the program.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment - the Standing agency of the Steering Committee to absorb all comments from delegates at the conference; at the same time, continue to study and propose the goals and tasks of the program in the coming time. In particular, the Department needs to pay attention to some key issues such as: Continuing to implement the New Rural Development Program in more and more depth, creating a spread in the entire political system and all classes of people towards the core goal of improving the material and spiritual life and income for the people. Developing the rural economy associated with the value chain, in which restructuring the agricultural sector towards high technology, organic and smart is the key task; supporting cooperatives and rural enterprises to participate in the value chain of the Ho Chi Minh City region.

Combining economic development with preserving rural cultural identity, conserving and developing traditional products and local specialties, forming ecological agricultural models to create destinations, associated with the development of agricultural and ecological tourism to contribute to the development of sustainable agricultural economy...

On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Emulation Flags to 6 collectives and certificates of merit to many collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement of the whole province joining hands to build new rural areas in the period of 2021-2025.
