Ben Tre province has 8 districts, 1 city; 3 coastal districts are Binh Dai, Ba Tri and Thanh Phu, the terrain has many canals, ditches, sandbanks, and alluvial flats stretching along the coast including 4 large river mouths: Cua Dai, Ba Lai, Ham Luong and Co Chien. Based on the importance of the strategic position in the Defense Zone of Military Region 9, the Ben Tre Provincial Military Command proactively innovated training programs suitable for each subject and area, especially coastal localities where natural disasters, floods and storms often occur.
